Instantaneously sober, Liam nearly toppled off his seat. Recovering quickly, Liam shifted to a fawning demeanor, bowing and flattering Ashton.
“Mr. Baldwin, perfect timing! I was just singing praises of your heroic deeds!”
Liam’s stuttering brought a smile to Ashton’s face, but Liam sensed something ominous behind that smile. To him, Ashton’s grin hinted at darker intentions.
If Liam hadn’t guided the assassins to the cave that day, Ashton wouldn’t have found himself in peril.
