Chapter 208
Chapter 208:
Ashton laughed derisively. “You’re not worthy!”
Slater hadn’t anticipated Ashton’s defiance. His eyes narrowed, flashing with murderous intent.
He sneered, “Seems you haven’t quite grasped the situation. Out here, disappearances go unnoticed!”
Slater brandished a butterfly knife, twirling it with practiced ease, his intention clear: to intimidate Ashton. Ashton’s gaze remained steady, eyes fixed on the knife. “It appears your son has inherited your taste for danger. Here’s a heads-up—play with that blade less. You know your son’s fate better than I do.”
Slater’s fury surged at Ashton’s mention of his son.
Before he could give the order to attack, one of his subordinates interrupted, saying, “Sir, something doesn’t feel right. There’s movement around us!”
Slater tensed, hearing a growing cacophony of sounds. Realization struck him with a jolt: Ashton had anticipated this, luring him into a trap!
Unfortunately, Slater’s realization came too late. Seeing the dawning awareness in Slater’s eyes, Ashton smirked and called out, “Time to show yourselves!”
At Ashton’s command, members of the Black Dragon Gang, who had been lurking in the surrounding bushes, erupted from their hiding places.
Slater’s heart sank. He had been the baited fish all along!
The emerging Black Dragon Gang members outnumbered Slater’s crew and were better equipped—fully armed and ready for confrontation.
Despite the overwhelming odds, Slater kept his composure.
He knew that losing his cool would signal defeat.

Clearing his throat, Slater declared, “Boys, we’re all in the same line. I’m Slater Webster, leader of the Axe Gang. You’ve surely heard of me!”
But before Slater could finish his proclamation, Liam, the leader of the Black Dragon Gang, charged forward and kicked Slater to the ground.
Caught off guard, Slater landed awkwardly.
He silently cursed the impoliteness of these local gangs, noting with frustration that they hadn’t even allowed him to finish his speech.
The members of the Axe Gang were initially frightened, but their anger flared when they saw their boss suddenly hurled to the ground.
They immediately squared off against the members of the Black Dragon Gang, their hostility palpable. Although no blows had been struck yet, the tension was electric.
Observing this escalating situation, Slater knew he couldn’t afford to appear weak.
He swiftly rose to his feet and roared with indignation, “Even in Staville, our Axe Gang holds sway. We came to Inewood intending to have a civil discussion with you, but clearly, that’s not on your agenda. Do you really want to fight?”
Liam, riding high on his arrogance, wasn’t feeling this way because of the numbers on his side but because of his backing from Ashton. His confidence was bolstered, and he relished the chance to flaunt it.
He sneered, “Is the Axe Gang trying to intimidate us? Do you know that my boss, Ashton, can call upon the special forces? The truth is, we haven’t needed to deploy them against you yet. For now, let the Black Dragon Gang handle things!”
