Chapter 276
Chapter 276:
Although Ashton’s words seemed logical, upon closer reflection, it became clear that he was subtly downplaying the influence of the long-established Sup Group.
Ashton’s bold and confident statement stirred a wave of conversation throughout the room. Many praised his words, murmuring among themselves. “Skyline Group truly lives up to its reputation. Their representative speaks with such authority. It seems Skyline Group isn’t worried at all about the confrontation from Sup Group.”
“I think that’s justified,” another voice added. “After all, Skyline Group is a leading enterprise in Inewood. No matter how impressive Sup Group may be, they’re outsiders. Trying to compete with Skyline Group here with such a high-profile move is simply arrogant.”
The journalist, secretly aligned with the Marquez family, couldn’t resist steering the narrative in their favor.
Fueled by the murmurs around him, he asked with a stern expression, “Mr. Baldwin, since your statement represents both Skyline Group and the Campbell family, are we to understand that neither takes Sup Group seriously? Do you believe yourselves to be the true kings of Inewood?”
Sensing the aggressive undertone, Ashton let out a cold chuckle before replying, “When did I ever say we don’t take Sup Group seriously? Our intention is to welcome enterprises from all regions to invest in Inewood. We can all benefit from mutual cooperation and progress together, without resorting to malicious competition that stifles growth. So how did my words get twisted into arrogance and self-righteousness in your interpretation? And kings of Inewood? Did those words ever cross my lips? It seems you’ve been paid by someone to deliberately distort our message and tarnish our reputation.”
Caught off guard by Ashton’s direct accusation, the journalist paled and stammered, “Don’t spout nonsense! Be careful, or I’ll sue you for defamation!”
At that moment, Ashton’s phone buzzed in his pocket. Glancing at the screen, a knowing smile spread across his face.

“Your name is Bryan Todd, isn’t it?” Ashton said sharply. “I just received an intriguing message revealing that the Marquez family bribed you to steer the narrative at this press conference. Isn’t that right?”
As he spoke, Ashton projected the message onto the large screen behind him.
It turned out that someone had shared details about the Marquez family’s attempt to manipulate the narrative in a secret chat group. Zeke happened to notice this and casually forwarded it to Ashton.
He had intended for Ashton to stay vigilant, but little did he know how quickly it would prove useful.
As everyone in the room read through the damning messages exchanged between Bryan and the Marquez family members, complete with incriminating voice notes, Bryan was left with no room for excuses.
Seeing the situation spiral out of his control, Bryan, speechless and humiliated, covered his face and fled the press conference like a rat scurrying from light.
Ashton watched him retreat, a sneer curling his lips. “Go back and tell Sup Group that we don’t start trouble, but that doesn’t mean we’re afraid of it! If they insist on playing this game, then we’ll see it through to the end!”
