Chapter 277
Chapter 277:
Bryan’s exposure and Ashton’s commanding response only added fuel to the already tense atmosphere. Many began to anticipate how Skyline Group would strike back.
As the press conference concluded, short clips of the event began circulating online, officially igniting the confrontation between the two groups.
However, due to Ashton’s initially diplomatic remarks, Sup Group’s underhanded attempts to sway public opinion came off as despicable and manipulative. As a result, public sentiment began to shift more favorably toward Skyline Group.
Beal quickly stumbled upon the related videos and scrolled through the comments section, where the overwhelming support for Skyline Group nearly made him explode with anger.
He was still scrambling to salvage the company’s reputation when Jacoby added fuel to the fire by causing yet another significant issue.
Without delay, Beal summoned Jacoby to his office.
“Jacoby, you must have seen the public opinion outside. The family is closely monitoring this situation as well. If we don’t manage the outcome properly, it could inevitably impact the group’s headquarters. Do you have any assurance that you can handle this?”
Seeing his brother’s furious expression, Jacoby simply smiled indifferently and replied, “Beal, how could you fall for Ashton’s trick? Didn’t you notice that guy was deliberately diverting the topic? His vague responses to the journalist’s questions clearly showed his discomfort; he was trying to shift the public’s focus elsewhere!”
Hearing Jacoby’s explanation, Beal began to calm down and reviewed the videos again.
Noticing that Ashton indeed seemed to be deliberately avoiding certain topics, Beal’s expression finally softened.

Seeing this, Jacoby chuckled smugly. “Don’t worry, Beal. The key exhibits have already been destroyed by my men. Even the most skilled artisan couldn’t possibly restore them, especially with the antique exhibition just days away. Right now, they’re merely putting on a brave front, desperately holding on. Once the exhibition starts, their true colors will be revealed for everyone to see!”
Beal understood his younger brother all too well, and now, seeing Jacoby’s confident demeanor, he couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling gnawing at him.
A sense of foreboding settled in his chest, though he couldn’t quite put his finger on what exactly was wrong.
Jacoby noticed the lingering sternness in his brother’s expression and, with a casual shrug, added, “I know my past performance hasn’t been stellar, but that was only because I wasn’t really trying. If I put my mind to it, I can achieve anything. Can’t you trust me, just this once?”
Beal remained silent, lost in contemplation. His intimate knowledge of Jacoby made him hesitant to celebrate too soon, caution holding him back.
Left with no other option, Jacoby suggested, “If you’re still concerned, we can activate the backup plan. I’ll reach out to the families allied with us, urging them not to support this antique exhibition. Ashton and Rosalie have invested heavily in promoting it—if the event turns out to be a flop, they’ll be the laughingstock. Our public image would improve by leaps and bounds, don’t you think?”
