Chapter 307
Chapter 307:
The company, it was clear to him now, was corrupt from the top down.
However, Ashton didn’t linger on these thoughts for long. Their attitudes were of little consequence to him.
With a nonchalant sweep of his gaze across the room, he took his seat at the opposite end of the conference table, Rosalie by his side.
The one thing that did capture Ashton’s interest was the man sitting across from him, who bore a striking resemblance to Jacoby.
The name badge on the man’s chest revealed his title as general manager at Sup Group’s headquarters, though he currently worked in a branch office.
This man, Beal Marquez, was evidently the true authority within this branch.
Beal’s eyes were also on Ashton, and after a brief moment of observation, he smiled and commenced the discussion.
“Mr. Baldwin, it was my decision to invite you to represent Skyline Group in these negotiations,” Beal began. “I have appreciated your prior public statements—our companies should bolster each other and progress together, rather than engage in conflict that harms us both. When I saw the turmoil my brother had created here, I hurried from Staville, aiming to resolve the friction between our two companies.
On behalf of Sup Group, I’m extending an offer of ten million in compensation to Skyline Group. Simultaneously, I hope Skyline Group will assist in dispelling the rumors that have been detrimental to both our firms. As the eldest son of the Marquez family, I assure you there will be no further antagonism from our side against Skyline Group or the Campbell family.”
Though the offer appeared genuine, Ashton remained skeptical. There was more to this than a mere peace offering, especially considering they had specifically requested his presence.
So Ashton cut to the chase. “Your offer does seem sincere, but you could have approached anyone at Skyline Group. Why did you specifically invite me, an outsider, to represent them?”

Recognizing that Ashton was not one for small talk, Beal decided to…
Adopting a straightforward approach as well, Beal said, “To be frank, we’ve conducted some research on you. We’re aware that you’re actually a lecturer at Inewood University and have no formal affiliation with Skyline Group. The reason you’ve been representing them is that Miss Campbell here requested your assistance in managing the project site.
Through these circumstances, your exceptional capabilities have come to our attention. Frankly, I believe that remaining in academia is squandering your potential. That’s why I want to seize this opportunity to invite you to join our branch as the vice general manager. What do you think? As for the salary, I assure you it will exceed a million a year if you agree.”
Ashton listened; he then smiled and pondered for a moment before replying, “Thank you for your appreciation, but I’m not interested. The sole reason I’m assisting the Campbell family and Skyline Group is due to my close relationship with Rosalie.”
Upon hearing that their general manager’s personal invitation had been so bluntly rejected, the other executives of Sup Group were immediately displeased.
