Chapter 324
Chapter 324:
The Marquez family planned to cause chaos at the hospital tomorrow, disrupting Bobby’s much-needed rest.
They would soon find out whether Ashton would tolerate such an insult!
The following day, after finishing his work at the university, Ashton carried some fruit to the hospital to visit Bobby once again.
Emalee and her parents had disappeared, likely hiding from the Lion Clan’s potential retaliation. Only a dedicated caregiver remained by Bobby’s side.
Bobby’s heart settled when he saw Ashton return safely. His face lit up with a relieved smile. With a gleam of mischief in his eyes, he grinned and said, “Ha-ha, you’ve finally come! I managed to send my son and his family away. They’ve been loitering here all day, getting on my nerves. Now we can talk properly. I was expecting you. You said you’d return soon, but then you didn’t. I was a bit worried, fearing you might have encountered some unexpected trouble.”
The smile on Bobby’s face made Ashton feel somewhat guilty, prompting him to quickly clarify, “I got tied up with several issues after handling those troublemakers yesterday. I apologize for not coming sooner.”
Bobby dismissed his apology with a gentle wave of his hand. “There’s no need to apologize. I’m not upset at all,” he assured him. “I truly appreciate your help. Without it, the outcome could have been dire yesterday.”
He continued, his voice tinged with the weariness of age, “I’m worn down by their constant harassment. It’s become quite unbearable.”
Hearing this, Ashton sighed deeply, his concern evident. He was just about to offer some words of comfort when a soft knock interrupted at the door.
“Who is it?” Bobby called out. From the other side, a voice replied, “Bobby, it’s me. I specifically came to see you!”
Ashton recognized the voice and turned slightly. It was Jacoby. Jacoby, still oblivious to the recent developments, continued, “Bobby, this is Jacoby from Sup Group. I’ve learned about the James family’s troubles. Though our group canceling the cooperation was the cause of the loan-sharking issue, misunderstandings have caused your family great distress.”

Jacoby added, “Our group values our friendship with your family deeply. Though this situation really isn’t our fault, we came to offer our support after knowing what you’ve been through.”
He then expressed his curiosity. “I was wondering why Ashton hadn’t visited during your ordeal. I remember you two were quite close before.”
Jacoby barged into the ward, cutting off Bobby before he could utter a word.
As he entered, his gaze immediately landed on Ashton, who was seated beside the bed.
Jacoby’s expression shifted abruptly at the sight. He had just attempted to sow discord between Ashton and Bobby, and now, face to face with the very person he had been talking about, he felt quite embarrassed.
Having been defeated by Ashton several times before, Jacoby now felt a surge of nervousness confronting him directly.
Yet, he managed to compose himself, recalling the decorum expected in a hospital setting. His remarks seemed more aimed at reassuring Bobby than provoking Ashton.
