Chapter 325
Chapter 325:
Given Ashton’s role as a university lecturer, his conduct around Bobby, an elder, was expected to be respectful and restrained. Bolstered by this thought, Jacoby approached Bobby with renewed confidence.
Smiling, he leaned over the bed and asked in a soothing tone, “Bobby, are you feeling any better now? If you’re not well, just tell me. My family has connections with many esteemed doctors who can certainly assist in your recovery.”
While speaking, Jacoby appeared to be casually glancing at his phone. In reality, he was covertly signaling the thugs he had hired to escalate their disruptive actions.
Bobby, seasoned in his line of work, was adept at discerning sincerity from deception. Considering the trouble Emalee and her parents had found themselves entangled in, he understood the Sup Group must have hidden agendas.
The influence of Sup Group was formidable, enough to unsettle even the Campbell family in Inewood. There was no way the James family could confront such a powerful opponent.
Aware of these dynamics, Bobby remained composed and responded graciously, “I feel much better now. Thank you for your concern.”
Jacoby’s attention drifted, oblivious to Bobby’s dismissive tone. A slight smirk spread across his face upon hearing Bobby’s gratitude. He then shot a challenging glance at Ashton, as if marking a silent triumph.
Noticing Ashton’s icy stare, Jacoby responded with biting sarcasm, “These moneylenders are monsters, tormenting an elderly man with such cruelty. We wanted to intervene but stood powerless against such vile forces.”
Jacoby was aware of Ashton’s suspicions about their involvement. Yet, what action could Ashton take? Lacking concrete evidence that the Marquez family orchestrated these events left Ashton deeply troubled but unable to act.
Jacoby’s self-satisfied expression seemed absurd to Ashton. Instead of confronting Jacoby, Ashton simply picked up an apple and began peeling it for Bobby.

Jacoby interpreted Ashton’s silence as a sign of submission, which made him feel even more self-assured, believing he had discovered a way to control Ashton.
Meanwhile, another disturbance occurred outside the ward.
Hearing the loud footsteps, Jacoby felt a surge of secret joy. He had not anticipated the Lion Clan would act so swiftly. He had just sent the message, yet they had already arrived. His investment was proving fruitful!
True to Jacoby’s expectations, the noise stopped right at the door of the ward before a group of thugs burst in aggressively. Ashton looked up, smiling.
The leader was Hamza, whom Ashton and Liam had punished the day before.
Despite the turn of events, Ashton remained calm. Liam had informed him the previous night that the Lion Clan had been dismantled by the Black Dragon Gang, and now those present were actually his allies.
However, Jacoby was unaware of this development.
Although he felt triumphant, he acted afraid. He discreetly signaled Hamza and the others with a wink, urging them to show no mercy later. Even if they couldn’t take Ashton’s life, they had to at least leave him disabled.
