Chapter 348
Chapter 348:
Even if Duane tried to shift the blame, his words would dissolve into thin air, unsupported by any evidence.
As Duane stood there, a prisoner of his own fear, Ashton’s voice sliced through the tension like a blade.
“Let it go. Today is Rosalie’s birthday, and we don’t want to spoil the celebration. Let’s not make a big deal out of this.”
Though his anger simmered just beneath the surface, Liam had no choice but to obey.
“What are you waiting for? Apologize and get out of here before my boss changes his mind!” he barked, his voice a whip crack in the air.
A wave of relief crashed over Duane. He dropped to his knees, groveling before Ashton like a man clinging to the last threads of hope.
Then, with the urgency of a man fleeing from his own doom, he bolted away from the beach, terrified that Ashton might reconsider his mercy.
Ashton, uninterested in squabbling with someone as insignificant as Duane, turned away and led Liam and Isaac to a secluded corner, where the din of the party faded into the background.
“You two were at each other’s throats the last time I saw you. How is it that you’re suddenly getting along?” Ashton asked, a smirk playing on his lips as he recalled their previous clash. After all, Ashton had only crossed paths with Liam because of the bet between him and Isaac over the racing game.
Isaac chuckled. “Like I told you before, my family and the Campbell family are business allies. Rosalie’s birthday party is also a celebration for the museum project, and the Campbell family entrusted us with security. I figured, since Liam’s one of your guys now, I’d call him to help. When he heard it involved the Campbell family and you, he didn’t hesitate; he showed up with his crew, no questions asked.”
Liam jumped in, his tone earnest. “Ashton, today’s your girlfriend’s big day; there’s no way I’d miss out on making sure everything goes smoothly!”
Ashton raised an eyebrow, feigning disapproval. “What girlfriend? Cut the nonsense,” he retorted, though the smile tugging at the corners of his mouth betrayed his true feelings.

Isaac, catching the glint in Ashton’s eyes, leaned in closer. “So, Ashton, do you have something special planned for Rosalie? You know tonight’s the perfect night to make your move.”
Ashton simply offered a cryptic smile, letting the silence speak for itself.
In truth, Ashton had been preparing for this moment with the patience of a chess master planning his endgame.
Over time, he and Rosalie had weathered countless trials together, each experience drawing them closer.
Her unwavering thoughtfulness had slowly healed the wounds left by his previous failed relationship.
Even someone as inexperienced as Ashton in matters of the heart couldn’t deny the unmistakable spark of affection that Rosalie held for him.
