Chapter 371:

Ashton’s eyes narrowed at the mention of Miss Carter, though his grin only widened.

The pieces of the puzzle were starting to fall into place. This, he thought, might just get interesting.

Rosalie, however, wasn’t as convinced. Her brow furrowed, a sliver of worry creeping into her thoughts.

They were in Staville, after all, and if Ellis truly wielded the power he claimed, they might find themselves caught between a rock and a hard place.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket, pulling her from her thoughts. Glancing at the message, she leaned in and whispered,

“Ashton, we need to find a way to shake him. Our ride is almost here.”

Though she whispered, Ellis’ sharp ears caught the words, and a smug grin crept onto his face.

He had witnessed Ashton’s prowess firsthand, but now, with his entire crew at his back, he felt invincible.

No matter how strong Ashton was, he couldn’t possibly take on ten guys at once by himself.

“Trying to slip away, huh?” Ellis jeered, his voice dripping with arrogance. “Whoever’s coming for you will take one look at me and turn tail. They won’t dare show their faces.”

But as the last of his words hung in the air, a sharp voice cut through the tension like a knife, cold and clear. “Well, well, Ellis. It’s been a while. So now, you think you can pretend I don’t exist?”

A commanding female voice echoed from behind Ellis, instantly catching Ashton’s attention.

Beside the airport’s exit, a sleek black car glided to a stop. From the dim recess of its tinted window, a figure sprang forth with the grace of a panther leaping from its lair.

The woman had an exquisitely sculpted face, her beauty effortlessly radiant even without a hint of makeup. Her raven hair was swept into a taut ponytail, lending her an aura of crisp efficiency and vitality.

She wore a formal black suit that accentuated her strong, athletic frame. Rather than conventional elegance, she radiated a fierce and untamed allure.

Ashton’s first thought was of a wild tigress—beautiful, yet undeniably powerful.

As the woman made her way toward them, her stride purposeful and unyielding, Ellis’ previously stormy expression softened like ice melting under the sun. He hurried to meet her, his earlier bravado dissipating as quickly as morning fog.

“Miss Carter, I was only joking,” Ellis stammered, offering a nervous grin. “Just trying to put a little fear in those two strangers. Who am I to act up in front of you? I’m a nobody!”

As Ellis’ honeyed words dripped from his lips, Abrial’s displeasure softened just a notch. His flattery seemed to have a soothing effect, if only momentarily.

Yet, her irritation was far from vanishing. Her brow furrowed as she cast a steely glance at Ellis’ entourage, her gaze sharp and unyielding.
