But Ashton remained completely unfazed. Closing his eyes again, he replied, “No. I’ve already got dinner plans with someone else. You’d be better off searching for your underwear now, before the thief disappears.”
His words, delivered with such casual indifference, stung Dora more than she’d like to admit. Her forced charm faltered, and the dissatisfaction she had been hiding spilled onto her face, her frustration now evident.
