Craig’s face went pale upon hearing Ashton’s words. Especially when Ashton brought up impotence, Craig looked visibly taken aback and very uncomfortable. However, Craig would certainly not confess to such personal issues in front of Abrial.

Though he tried to leave in anger, his exit seemed more like a hasty retreat, as if he feared Ashton might reveal more of his secrets.
Watching Craig hurry away brought a smile to Abrial’s face.
She turned to Ashton, unable to suppress her admiration. “Not bad. With just a few words, you managed to get under my cousin’s skin like that. He’s famous for his cutting remarks, and not many can outwit him.”
Ashton shrugged nonchalantly. “I wasn’t trying to rile him up. I just pointed out some truths, and it seems I touched a nerve, that’s all.”
Abrial chuckled and said, “It looks like your medical expertise is quite impressive too! No wonder he’s always so cranky and has those dark circles—it seems he’s been venting his frustrations because he’s lacking in certain areas.”

Once the laughter subsided, Abrial suddenly remembered her cousin’s reference to their grandfather’s upcoming birthday banquet, and her mood shifted to concern. Seeing Abrial as a potential ally, Rosalie asked worriedly, “Miss Carter, what’s the matter?”
Abrial offered a wry smile and replied, “Just call me Abrial. I was thinking about the antique event yesterday. Ashton hesitated and didn’t immediately respond.
Seeing his hesitation, Abrial quickly added, “Don’t be like that. We are partners, after all. You heard what my cousin said. He’s not pleased about our potential deal and wants to disrupt it. Do you really want to let him win?”
Ashton smiled faintly. The partnership project was a charge from his grandfather to Abrial’s grandfather. With just Craig’s meddling, how could it be threatened? Yet, Ashton couldn’t disclose his true role just yet.
