Jacoby, despite the pain, tried to appear defiant, yelling, “Ashton, what do you want from me? I belong to the Marquez family, and you’re in my territory! You’ll deeply regret it if anything happens to me. My family’s vengeance will be swift and severe!” Ashton simply entered the car and drove away.

Before long, they were alone on an empty road. Ashton turned to Jacoby with a smirk and said, “You’re more than just a Marquez, aren’t you? Need I remind you of your other role, like… a member of the Dark Night Organization?”

Jacoby gasped in shock, blurting out, “How did you find out?” Realizing his mistake, Jacoby hastily covered his mouth.

With a dismissive snort, Ashton said, “I’ve shown my hand; now stop concealing yours. Be honest about what the Dark Night Organization is up to in Staville!”

Having already felt Ashton’s ruthless efficiency, Jacoby understood the dire consequences of deception.

Yet, he was also acutely aware of the brutal retribution his organization would enact for any betrayal; sharing secrets could provoke a crueler fate than provoking Ashton.

So, Jacoby clenched his jaw, averted his gaze, and coldly said, “I will tell you nothing!”

Ashton, unfazed, scoffed, “I came to you personally because I have ways of loosening your tongue. Don’t blame me later if you regret not cooperating!”

Jacoby merely snorted dismissively.

Noticing Jacoby’s stubbornness, Ashton was about to escalate matters when he suddenly paused, sensing something was off. The car was quiet; no music, no conversation, but a soft ticking noise rose above the hum of the engine.

It seemed a sinister surprise had been left in the car during his absence.

At the ticking sound, Ashton’s instincts kicked in, and he fell into a cautious silence.

Jacoby, oblivious to the actual threat, saw Ashton’s sudden silence as a precursor to aggression.

With tension in his voice, he warned, “Are you trying to squeeze information about the organization out of me? That’s a dead end! But just so you know, my brother has already lined up someone to take you out at any moment! If you kill me today, know that I’ll drag you down with me!”

Ashton let out a low chuckle and responded, “There’s no need to wait for your brother’s move. If I’m not mistaken, his hitman has already attached C4 to the bottom of this car.”

A smug smile spread across Jacoby’s face. “Ha! Having second thoughts, are you? Just let me go then!”

“Do you really think you’ll be walking away if I’m blown up? Didn’t you just brag about taking me down with you? Well, this could be your chance,” Ashton replied with a sneer.
