Chapter 547
Chapter 547:
Suddenly, a multitude of scenarios raced through Ashton’s mind. Egan and his band of hidden terrorists could choose to speed up their attack now, turning the party into a bloodbath. Or, sensing the unraveling of their scheme, they might decide to make a run for it.
Either path spelled disaster, and it was all thanks to Luther’s reckless actions. Days of effort, ruined.
But as the chaos churned around him, Ashton steadied himself, his mind working quickly.
Perhaps it wasn’t too late to salvage the situation. The special forces team should already be in position, initiating a discreet lockdown of the hotel.
What Ashton needed now was to assess the situation and stall Egan and his group. He turned to the frantic Alisha, his voice low but decisive. “Take me to see that fool.”
Alisha looked as if she had more to say, but a silent nod from her father stilled her protests.
Taking a deep breath, she guided Ashton back to the banquet hall.
When they arrived, Luther lay on the floor, convulsing violently. His skin had turned a sickly purple, and blister-like welts, eerily similar to chickenpox, were rapidly spreading across his body. Ashton knelt beside him. The symptoms mirrored those of Milena’s earlier ordeal.
But while Milena had shielded herself, minimizing the toxin intake, Luther had consumed the poison directly. No wonder the effects were so brutal and swift.
Ashton discreetly scanned the room, noting the fearful guests edging away from Luther’s stricken form.
His gaze swept the crowd, searching for one face in particular. And there he was—Egan, lurking near the back, his expression dark with frustration.

Luther’s actions had disrupted Egan’s plan as well, but there was no sign he intended to leave. On the contrary, his steady confidence suggested he was ready to proceed.
Ashton’s heart sank, but he masked his concern, pretending to focus solely on Luther’s condition.
“Ashton, don’t move him! I’ve already told the staff to call an ambulance. If he gets worse, this could all fall on your shoulders!” Alisha whispered frantically, her voice trembling.
Ashton shook his head grimly. “It’s too late for that. The poison is already flooding his system. By the time an ambulance arrives, they won’t be taking him to the hospital. They’ll be taking him to the morgue.”
Alisha, desperate to avoid a tragedy at her father’s birthday party, asked anxiously, “Then what should we do? Should we rush him to the hospital ourselves?”
Ashton shook his head again. “That won’t change the outcome. We’re better off trying to stabilize him here.”
Without waiting for further argument, Ashton gestured toward a small side room. “Help me move him there. I need space to work.”
Alisha, though clearly terrified, obeyed without question. Together, they dragged Luther into the side room.
