Chapter 548
Chapter 548:
As they laid him down, Alisha, eyes wide with realization, suddenly exclaimed, “Wait, are you… a doctor?”
But Ashton gave no answer. From his coat pocket, he withdrew a sleek case of silver needles, his fingers moving with precision and intent as he began to administer acupuncture on the convulsing Luther.
Luther had willingly taken the poison, but unlike Milena’s condition back then, the toxin hadn’t spread extensively yet, due to the brief time that had passed.
Moreover, Ashton, with his background in treating this specific poison, quickly stabilized Luther through emergency acupuncture. This halted Luther’s convulsions and foaming, and he soon expelled the poisoned cake he had eaten.
Detoxifying this poison was considerably more complex than typical toxins. Fortunately, Luther was the only one who had eaten the cake. Had all the guests ingested it, Ashton wouldn’t have been able to save everyone on his own.
Ashton sighed in relief, unsure whether to feel grateful or frustrated.
Thinking of Luther’s reckless behavior, Ashton was not gentle when it came time to wake him up.
A series of sharp slaps later, Luther woke up to a stinging pain on his face, crying out.
He then saw Ashton with a silver needle poised as if to strike. Luther yelled in fright, “Ashton! What on earth are you trying to do? Are you trying to murder me in plain sight?”
Mid-sentence, Luther felt a sudden pain in his arm and leg.
Looking down, he noticed several silver needles already in place. Frightened, Luther tried to remove them.
Ashton looked on impassively and scoffed, “Shut up, you fool. If you want to live, let me insert this last needle.”

Doubtful of Ashton’s intentions, Luther retorted, “Who are you calling a fool? You’re just jealous because I outshine you, and now you’re trying to take my life!”
Alisha, who had been silently observing from the sidelines to avoid disturbing Ashton, finally reached her limit.
She retorted, “You remember what happened earlier when you ignored Ashton’s advice? Who ended up foaming at the mouth and collapsing? And now that you’re awake, you’re being ungrateful again?”
Frozen by the memory of his previous near-death experience, Luther lay still as the details rushed back to him.
That overwhelming, terrifying sensation had left him convinced his end was near, and even now, the mere thought still quickened his heartbeat.
Aware of his past mistakes, Luther ceased his struggles and pleaded, “Mr. Baldwin! I promise I’ll stay still. Please don’t abandon me! You must save me!”
Ashton had little interest in spending time on someone as foolish and troublesome as Luther.
Yet, his medical oath compelled him to preserve life, regardless of how foolish the patient was.
