It seemed to Ashton that he was possibly tied up with something. Opting against a redial, Ashton waited, and shortly after, Rayden returned the call.
“Mr. Baldwin, my apologies for not answering earlier. I’m currently in a meeting,” Rayden whispered apologetically over the phone.
Ashton laughed lightly and remarked, “A meeting at this early hour? You must be swamped.”
Rayden let out a weary sigh and responded, “It’s due to an unusual incident that happened in the city last night. A family of three was discovered dead in their villa. This isn’t your typical death investigation. Their demise was quite odd.”
Ashton’s expression darkened as he pressed on. “What exactly happened?”
“It appears they died from hypothermia,” Rayden immediately explained. “When we got there, we found them all huddled together, dressed in down jackets. It’s odd, you know? It’s still late summer, and the temperatures are well above 86 degrees Fahrenheit. How on earth does someone freeze to death in such weather?”
