Chapter 610:

Abrial buried her head in Ashton’s chest, closed her eyes, and nodded. “I trust your judgment. And if we really are going to die, there’s no place I’d rather be than in your arms.”

Ashton couldn’t help but lightly flick Abrial’s forehead with dissatisfaction. “Don’t always mention death. I don’t plan to die here so easily.”

Then, he scanned the tiles carefully.

After some careful observation and selection, he determined the escape route. Then, he began to exert force on his legs and swiftly dashed out of the storage room in one go.

The entire process took less than three seconds, and there was not the slightest sound from the storage room.

Finally, they were out safely. It was only then that Ashton breathed a long sigh of relief.

Obviously, his judgment had been spot-on.

“It should be fine now.” Ashton exhaled and put Abrial down.

It was only then that he noticed the rims of her eyes were red, and her body was trembling.

The next second, Abrial suddenly pushed Ashton against the wall and kissed his lips passionately without giving him a chance to resist.

Abrial’s kiss came like a storm—clumsy yet intense, like a predator tasting victory after its first kill.

For a moment, Ashton was caught off guard, but he didn’t resist her fervent gesture.

He understood. They had escaped death by a hair’s breadth, and this was Abrial’s way of releasing the tangled emotions she’d bottled up, raw and unfiltered.

When the fierce kiss finally broke, a calmer Abrial gently pushed him away. “Let’s hold off for now. If you still want a kiss, you can have all you want after we get out of here. Right now, we need to focus on leaving.”

Ashton muttered under his breath, “Funny, I’m the one who got ambushed here, yet you act like I started it.”

Abrial rolled her eyes with a playful pout. “Quit whining, will you? We don’t know if that madman has left us any parting gifts. Let’s get out of here.”

Ashton nodded, stifling further comments.

She was right. Red Jack’s deadly games were no joke, and there was no telling if more traps lurked around. Their best move was to escape this cursed place without delay.

Without a second thought, Ashton grabbed Abrial’s hand, pulling her along as they hurriedly left the resort, leaving behind their belongings in the rooms without a backward glance.

Each step on their descent was filled with tension. Ashton’s nerves were taut, alert for any hidden ambush that might spring on them.

Fortunately, along their way to the parking lot at the foot of the mountain, everything had gone smoothly, with no surprises lurking in the shadows.
