With a casual flick of his wrist, Red Jack produced an exquisitely crafted box, delicately lifting a green pill from inside. Without hesitation, he made a move to force it into Antoni’s mouth.
But as his hand descended, Antoni, fueled by raw panic, thrashed, desperate to escape. Red Jack, however, only seemed to grow more delighted, pinning the trembling man with a firm hand, his excitement palpable as he leaned over Antoni’s helpless form.
In the midst of this dark spectacle, a hand suddenly clamped around Red Jack’s arm. He whirled around, his expression darkening.
“What’s this? Are you trying to make me spare his life?” Red Jack’s tone was laced with irritation.
Ashton met his gaze, calm and unruffled. “I’m not interested in your money,” he replied, his voice quiet and measured. “It’s the object in your hand I care about.”
Red Jack’s eyes narrowed, his lips curling into a predatory smile. “Ah, so that’s why you’re here. Came for this pill. Well, I’ll admit defeat—since he lost to you, I’ll cover his debt. Whether you can handle what comes next is none of my concern.”
With a careless flick, Red Jack tossed the box containing the pill to Ashton, the motion as fluid and indifferent as a gambler discarding his chips.
Suddenly, his interest in taking Antoni’s life seemed to wane. He turned on his heel and pushed through the crowd, as though the gambler’s life was of no further consequence.
Antoni, with death barely a breath away, collapsed at Ashton’s feet, clutching them in a desperate, trembling grip. “Thank you, kind stranger,” he gasped, his words tumbling over each other. “Thank you for saving my life! I was a fool… wrong to offend you. I swear, I’ll never make the same mistake again!”
Ashton didn’t spare him a glance. Antoni’s life or death was of little concern to him. What mattered was the insect egg hidden within that pill—the deadly poison it contained.
With his prize secured, Ashton looked up, eager to share his victory with Alisha. But instead, he saw her pushing through the crowd, her face clouded with anger as she stormed out. A sense of unease washed over Ashton as he realized something was wrong.

Alisha appeared genuinely furious as she exited the casino, maintaining a brisk pace with no signs of waiting for Ashton.
However, no matter how fast Alisha walked, Ashton easily caught up to her.
He picked up his pace, stepped in front of her to stop her, and quickly said, “Alisha, please don’t be angry. What I did back there was to draw out Red Jack and secure this venomous insect egg. You might already know from your father about our upcoming plan. We need this insect egg; it’s vital for developing an antidote, ensuring our operation proceeds without any harm.”
Alisha stopped, her face a mask of indifference. She nodded slightly and responded, “Okay, I understand. Now, if there’s nothing more, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t block my path.”
