Chapter 678
Chapter 678:
Staville’s government had been swept up in a whirlwind of meetings after the recent mole-hunting operation, and as Brixton had predicted, Fernando was indeed at the heart of one such important discussion. While addressing a crowd, Fernando noticed the call from Ashton. Abruptly halting his speech, he excused himself and quickly answered the phone.
Upon hearing that his subordinates had stirred up trouble at Ashton’s company, Fernando’s fear was palpable. He immediately excused himself from the meeting and rushed to Ashton’s location.
Ashton, having made significant contributions to a recent operation and being a member of the prestigious Baldwin family from Tacland, had long been on Fernando’s radar as someone to cultivate a good relationship with.
Yet, before Fernando could even speak with Ashton, his own subordinates had managed to offend him, as though they were determined to drag Fernando into their mess. Fernando arrived at the Skyline Group’s branch building in record time.
As he stepped inside, Brixton’s mocking voice reached his ears. “So, didn’t you say you had called Mr. Potter? I’ve been waiting, but I still don’t see him. No matter how much…”
“Time you waste, it’s all for nothing. You’re obstructing our enforcement of the law, and I’ll shut your company down right now!”
When Fernando heard Brixton’s smug tone, his face twisted with rage.
Without greeting Ashton, Fernando bellowed, “Brixton! What on earth are you doing? How dare you cause trouble at Mr. Baldwin’s company? Are you trying to drag me down with you?”
The once-confident Crawford family duo turned ashen with fear at the sound of Fernando’s roar and the sight of him standing in the lobby.
Brixton hesitated, his voice trembling. “Mr. Potter, weren’t you in a meeting? How did you get here so quickly…”

Fernando, cutting him off sharply, thundered, “How dare you question why I’m here? Don’t you have any idea?”
As Fernando’s arrival was acknowledged, Ashton chuckled and turned to Brixton. “Now that my witness is here, we can resume checking the accounts in front of everyone. Show your superior just how impartial you are.”
The bite in his words made Brixton visibly uneasy, but he held his tongue, too fearful to respond.
The sight of the director, who should have been tied up in an important meeting, arriving so swiftly left Brixton in a state of bewilderment.
But one thing was clear: he could no longer afford to make waves, or he’d find himself ousted from the tax office altogether.
Thus, the account verification proceeded, but it had become nothing more than a mere formality.
Brixton, clearly rattled, flipped through a few pages before forcing a strained smile. “My apologies, Mr. Baldwin. I must have missed something earlier. Your company’s financial records are perfectly in order, without a single issue.”
Hearing this, Ashton let out a cold laugh, his eyes turning to Fernando. “Thank you, Mr. Potter, for arriving just in time. If not for you, my company might have been shut down.”
