Stephen shot him a suspicious glance, his instincts immediately on high alert. He had no idea who this man was, and that alone was reason enough not to trust him.
Without missing a beat, Stephen waved him off. “I don’t care if you’re Red Jack, Black Jack, or Jack-of-all-trades, and I don’t know what you think I’m planning, but you’ve got the wrong guy. Now get out of my car before I make you regret it!”
Unfazed, Red Jack chuckled softly, a knowing glint in his eye. “Oh, you shouldn’t be so quick to dismiss me,” he said with a tone that bordered on amusement.
“I’ve been keeping an eye on your little feud with Ashton. I know all about your chats with Leonardo and Hamlin. And I know about the secret treasures you’ve been planning to use against Ashton. Interesting strategy, by the way,” Red Jack continued, his voice dropping into a conspiratorial whisper.
Stephen’s breath caught in his throat. His heart skipped a beat, then pounded in his chest like a war drum. “How… how do you know about that? Who the hell are you?” he demanded.
Red Jack leaned in slightly, his tone shifting to something darker. “Ever heard of the Dark Night Organization?”
Stephen stiffened, his fingers tightening on the steering wheel. The name alone was enough to set his nerves on edge. “Are you telling me you’re one of them?”
Red Jack grinned, clearly pleased by the reaction. “Not just one of them. I’m their top assassin. And lucky for you, I’ve got my own treasure, one that might just tip the scales in your favor. If you agree, I can make Ashton pay for everything he’s done.”
