Ashton was in his office. He had just finished talking with Rosalie on the phone when Abrial, working next to him, leaned over, propping her chin on her hand and looking at him.
“What did Rosalie say? Is everything okay in Inewood?” she asked curiously.
Ashton yawned, stretched, and replied, “Last time we spoke, she said many small families in Inewood started to curry favor with Fraser’s family. But for some reason, they suddenly stopped. There is nothing urgent at the moment. She only asked me when I was coming home. But the thing is, we still haven’t found Fraser. We don’t have even the smallest clue about his whereabouts. Whatever he’s up to, we have no idea either. I can’t go home until I find him. Besides, I’ve made a bet with your family. Everything has to be settled first. I can only go back after I deal with all those matters.”
Abrial looked at Ashton, nodding thoughtfully. She was about to say something but was interrupted by a knock on the door.
“Mr. Baldwin, there are two gentlemen downstairs wanting to see you. They said they were from the Miller and Nash families,” said someone outside the door.
Ashton’s eyes narrowed, and his expression darkened. The Crawford family was already enough of a headache. Now, the other two major families wanted to insert themselves into the mix.
He pinched his glabella and said, “Let them in.”
Ashton subconsciously thought their purpose of coming here was similar to Stephen’s. Stephen’s Pavilion Foods Group was facing a crisis now, so they might want to help Stephen regain his reputation.
Ashton’s eyes flicked toward the door as it opened, revealing Leonardo and Hamlin stepping in with cautious expressions.
He sneered, “Let me guess. You’re here because you’ve finally caught wind of the mess Stephen has gotten himself into, right? I know you three families stick together and protect each other. But don’t worry. After I sort things out with Stephen, I’ll deal with you next.”

The two immediately realized Ashton jumped to conclusions, misunderstanding them. Leonardo quickly said, “Mr. Baldwin, you’ve got it all wrong. We’re not here about that matter. We actually came to apologize.”
Ashton was stunned. What Leonardo said was beyond his expectations. The carefully crafted retorts he had prepared froze on the tip of his tongue, leaving him momentarily speechless.
After a few seconds, he finally found his voice. He asked in confusion, “Apologize? Are you backing down that quickly?”
Leonardo sighed and explained, “When your company started gaining traction, we were worried you might become a threat and mentioned our concern to Stephen. But before we could even dig into your background, he acted impulsively, which led to the current situation. So, here we are. We are genuinely sorry that all this happened because of us.”
Hamlin quickly chimed in, “The truth is, the so-called ‘alliance’ of the three families is overblown. It’s all rumors from the outside world. We suppose you have also looked into us. Leonardo runs a successful pharmaceutical company whose products sell all over the country. And my entertainment company has several A-list stars with blockbuster films every year. No matter how big your company grows, it won’t affect us at all. So, all this time, we have only been helping Stephen ward off potential threats. That’s it.”
