Chapter 774
Chapter 774:
With a swift kick, he knocked the fallen security personnel aside, breathing heavily as he came face to face with Stephen. His voice was cold and unyielding. “Hand over the quill pen and notebook, or your fate will be worse than theirs.”
Stephen took several steps back, clutching the treasures with both hands. He understood that as long as he possessed them, his dream could still come true.
But if he surrendered them, his chance at immortality would slip away, forever out of reach.
However, facing the formidable Ashton, Stephen realized he stood no chance of defeating him in a direct confrontation. In that moment of desperation, a new idea sparked within him. Since obtaining the two treasures seemed impossible, Stephen figured, why not take one last desperate gamble?
A wicked grin spread across his face as he bit down on his finger, drawing blood. Using it as ink, he quickly scrawled a single sentence in the notebook. “I want Ashton Baldwin dead!”
Ashton sneered, watching Stephen’s desperation. “Still making futile struggles? You’re beyond saving.”
But just as Ashton lunged forward to grab the Glorious Heritage items, a brilliant golden light suddenly burst from the notebook. Before either of them could make a move, the light enveloped them, and both fell unconscious at the same moment.
Abrial had spent the entire night at the company waiting for Ashton, but he had not returned. Repeated calls went unanswered, adding to her anxiety. This was an unknown experience for Abrial; never before had she encountered such a situation with Ashton, leaving her profoundly disturbed.
Just as she was about to call Alisha to organize a search at the Crawford family residence, a knock at the door interrupted her. Relieved yet puzzled, Abrial noted something was wrong. She shared this office with Ashton, who would have had no need to knock. When she opened the door, Leonardo and Hamlin stood there, their faces etched with seriousness.
They supported an unconscious Ashton between them, his eyes closed and his body slack.

His condition seemed beyond mere unconsciousness; he appeared almost lifeless.
A wave of panic washed over Abrial as she asked, “What’s happened? What’s wrong with Ashton?”
Leonardo and Hamlin gently placed Ashton on the office sofa, their expressions filled with regret.
“We walked right into Stephen’s trap,” Leonardo explained. “We didn’t realize until it was too late and found everyone, including Ashton, unconscious in the vault.”
“Why haven’t you taken him to the hospital yet?” Abrial demanded urgently.
Leonardo and Hamlin shared a somber look and then sighed.
“I contacted the top doctors I know immediately,” Leonardo said, his voice heavy. “However, after their examination, they revealed that his condition was bad. Ashton’s brain showed no signs of activity, and they suspected he might be in what is known as a vegetative state.”
