Chapter 775
Chapter 775:
Abrial nearly collapsed in shock.
She had promised Rosalie to look after Ashton.
How would she face Rosalie now?
Ashton lay on the sofa, his complexion surprisingly normal, as if he were just sleeping.
Shaking, Abrial approached and gently shook Ashton, forcing a smile. “You fool, stop playing around. This isn’t funny. Wake up!” Despite her attempts to wake him, Ashton remained still, enveloped in a deep, unreachable sleep.
It turned out her intuition was right; Abrial never imagined that someone as seemingly invincible as Ashton could end up in such a state.
While Abrial was at a loss, Leonardo and Hamlin exchanged a glance.
Leonardo hesitated before asking, “Miss, you’re part of the Carter family, right? Is Levi your grandfather?”
Silently, Abrial nodded.
Hamlin said quickly, “Perhaps you should consult him. Ashton’s condition isn’t from a physical injury but might be linked to the Glorious Heritage.”
At that, Abrial turned to face the two men. “What do you mean? Did Stephen use that against Ashton?”
Leonardo confirmed with a nod and then presented a quill pen and a small notebook. “When we arrived at the scene, we only discovered these two Glorious Heritage items. One of them was a notebook, intended for writing wishes, and inside it was a wish for Ashton to die instantly. However, the wish wasn’t written with the ink from the bottle, which is also a Glorious Heritage item, but with blood.”
Hamlin added, “We believe the wish hasn’t fully manifested. If we find someone familiar with these treasures, there might still be hope for Ashton!”
After hearing the two men, Abrial took several deep breaths to calm herself.
She remembered that Ashton had previously mentioned encountering items similar to the three families’ treasures, explaining his knowledge of the treasures’ name as Glorious Heritage.
She considered that perhaps someone from the Baldwin family in Tacland might have insight into the situation.
Without hesitation, Abrial called her grandfather, Levi, urging him to alert the Baldwin family in Tacland about Ashton’s condition. Levi was taken aback by the news.
The stakes were high; any harm to Ashton could anger Levi’s old friend, Ennis, and the entire Carter family could be in trouble. Levi wasted no time in contacting Ennis to explain the circumstances.
Fortunately, before Ashton’s departure, Abrial had foreseen potential risks and informed the Baldwin family through Levi.
Upon learning of Ashton’s situation, Ennis responded with calm reassurance, “Don’t worry, Levi. I know this isn’t your doing. Ashton chose this risky path himself. I had already set things in motion yesterday when I first learned of the threat. Assistance is on its way.”
Upon hearing that Ennis was already prepared, Abrial let out a sigh of relief. After what seemed like an endless day of waiting, a knock finally echoed from the office door.
