The other voice, calmer and more composed, replied, “We do not know how you managed to steal our forces, but only those we deem worthy can wield them. If you, unapproved and unqualified, forcibly use our powers, it may lead to your death. We do this for your own safety, hoping you will cooperate.”
Ashton had little interest in the so-called forces. What intrigued him more was the Glorious Heritage itself. His eyes narrowed, and he spoke with quiet determination. “I’ll return the forces to you, but in exchange, I need you to answer some questions.”
The voices paused for a moment before responding in unison, “We will do our best to enlighten you.”
