Chapter 800
Chapter 800:
“Reed. He’s the best assassin we have in the Dark Night Organization. He’ll get the job done.”
Ashton had no idea what Stephen and Red Jack were plotting. When Leonardo and Hamlin returned to report the situation, Ashton responded with a faint smile and a shake of his head, dismissing Stephen’s decision as insignificant. Ashton wasn’t the type to be overly generous or forgiving. He extended opportunities only once, and if Stephen chose not to take it, there would be no second chances.
The transfer of assets went smoothly, thanks to Leonardo and Hamlin’s cooperation. All the necessary procedures were completed within a day.
By the time everything was handled, the day had slipped away unnoticed, and evening had arrived.
Ashton politely declined Leonardo’s invitation to stay for dinner and made his way back to the branch office.
After all, Abrial had just given herself to him, and now that things had progressed to this point, Ashton knew he couldn’t simply ignore the situation.
When he arrived at their shared office, he found Abrial still there, surrounded by a mountain of documents.
Her face lit up with joy at the sight of him. Setting her work aside, she approached Ashton with a warmth that was almost unrecognizable—like a doting wife, a stark contrast to her usual tough demeanor.
“Ashton, why did it take you so long to get back? Where have you been all day?” Abrial asked in a teasing, coquettish tone. Ashton couldn’t help but shiver as goosebumps rose on his skin. Reaching out to check her forehead, he asked, “Abrial, are you running a fever?”
“No, I’m perfectly fine,” she replied coyly.
“Then can you act a bit more like yourself? I prefer the old you,” Ashton said with a wry smile.

Abrial giggled, her charm unmistakable. “I thought you’d like this side of me. Honestly, I’m not used to pretending to be ladylike either. By the way, what did you do today?”
Ashton had no intention of hiding anything from Abrial, so he recounted the day’s events in detail.
After finishing his explanation, he produced Quills and Snake Fang—the quill pen and the notebook, casually remarking, “In any case, I’ve passed the trials and earned the approval of these two pieces of the Glorious Heritage. It’s quite a significant gain.”
Hearing this, Abrial’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Does that mean you have supernatural powers now?” she asked eagerly.
“Sort of, but these abilities aren’t particularly useful to me at the moment,” Ashton nodded.
He was about to share the news that the assets from the Miller and Nash families had been successfully transferred to his account. This development meant that all they had to do now was deal with the Crawford family to secure victory in the bet with the Carter family.
However, before he could speak, Abrial interrupted, her tone brimming with enthusiasm. “Even if they’re not useful now, they’ll surely come in handy in the future, right? You’re so lucky, Ashton! If anyone else had been in your shoes, they’d be grateful just to survive. But you turned misfortune into a blessing and gained the power of two treasures. You owe me dinner for that!”
