Chapter 1005
Inside the villa, Fred looked at Malcolm with a darkened expression. "What do you want now?"
Malcolm hardly ever dropped by, but whenever he showed up, he was always up for something.
It was their fifth time meeting up in Lambda City. Fred could tell right away it was going to be another complaint about Rachel.
Grinning, Malcolm poured Fred a cup of coffee and set it on the table. "Have some coffee, Dad. I'm just here to have a chat."
Fred was a little taken aback, thinking it was going to be a complaint. "Have you had dinner?"
Smiling, Malcolm replied, "Nope."
This was the first time Fred cared about his well-being after he grew up. For a brief moment, he felt like he was back to his childhood again.
But Fred was definitely getting old, and so was he. It hit him with an inexplicable sadness.
Fred chuckled. "How about you join me for dinner today?"
Malcolm smirked. Every time he tried to talk to Fred, he'd always get yelled at.
This time, he consulted a psychologist to figure out what was going on in Fred's head and learned some tips on how to deal with Fred.
Even when he poured Fred some coffee, the psychologist planned it all out for him.
In the Carter residence, there were four household staff. Each of them was assigned one task like cleaning, brewing the coffee, buying the groceries, and handling the laundry.
Everything was divided so meticulously that Malcolm had never poured coffee for Fred. He didn't expect that pouring Fred just a cup of coffee would change things so much.
Malcolm cheerfully replied, "I'm here today because I just wanted to grab a meal with you. Back when I was a kid, every time you closed a deal, you'd take the whole family out to eat. Those were the happiest moments."
Fred's face lit up with a nostalgic smile as he gazed at Malcolm more gently. They spent some time reminiscing before Malcolm casually switched the topic.
"Lately, Rachel "
Fred was about to snap when Rachel was mentioned. "From now on, no more talking behind her back about how she runs Wealthwave Group.
།
"As a woman, it's already tough for her to deal with the competitors and juggle everything. Every penny she earns you all have a share in it. You all dont even need to lift a finger. and you still get paid.
"Be grateful and learn to appreciate things."
Malcolm looked embarrassed, and he was fuming inside. If this were in the past he would've been mad at Fred for always taking Rachers side. But now he just kept it to himself, fighting to control his anger.
Thinking back to the psychologist's advice, Malcolm quickly came up with a response. "You've got the wrong idea, Dad. I also understand that Rachel is working hard, and I feel for her too."
Frowning, Fred sized up Malcolm. He was glad to have Malcolm over for coffee and a meal, but he was skeptical about Malcolm's sudden change of attitude toward Rachel. "What are you trying to say?"
Malcolm sighed. "I used to be stubborn, but I've come to terms with it now. I support Rachel in leading the Carter family and running Wealthwave Group.
"She's part of the family, so I trust her. But there's a small issue right now. Matthew seems to have a way with women, and he's got her listening to him on everything.
"I went to the office today to visit Rachel, planning to bring her back to have dinner with you. The moment I brought it up, Matthew said he was taking her out for dinner."
Fred paused for a moment. "They're a couple, so that makes sense."
Malcolm said in a huff, "Let me finish. After Matthew finished speaking, I was ready to leave, but he told me he didn't want to see me around and that I should avoid showing up when he was at the office.
"This is our family business, so why I can't be there? I was livid, so I went to Rachel to talk about it. Guess what she said?
"Rachel said Matthew's words are the same as hers. She told me not to appear in the company again."
Fred's expression immediately turned grim, and his gaze turned sharp, looking like a volcano that was about to erupt.
Upon seeing this, Malcolm figured
he'd add more fuel to the fire.
"Rachel isn't married to Matthew yet, and our family business seems to be his already if they en up married,
you might get kicked out of the
company even though you're the founder."
