Chapter 1026
Josefina knew that if she couldn't find the information herself, the government certainly could.
"Darren," she said, "if it's too much trouble, just forget it. I'm sorry for asking so much."
Just as Josefina was about to get up and leave, Darren agreed.
"No worries, I'll help you out. You've done me such a big favor; it's only fair I return it."
With that sorted out, Oliver walked Josefina out of the National Security Bureau.
"Hey Josie," Oliver said, "Grandpa texted me. He's asking if you can come over to the old family house for a big family dinner tonight."
"Sure," she replied with a smile, knowing she'd mostly be a quiet presence at such gatherings.
...
The Cole family was hanging out in the living room, waiting for dinner.
Brandon had gone to the kitchen, saying he wanted to personally oversee the making of handmade pasta, promising Cole a taste of his childhood.
Just then, a servant led in a woman dressed in a sharp business suit.
The servant announced, "Just leave it here. The master will check it out soon."
The manager stood by, visibly nervous, eyes downcast to avoid any unnecessary trouble.
She wouldn't have come to the Baldwin family estate if it weren't for delivering jewelry worth millions.
The rumors were true; this upscale neighborhood was just as posh as people said, with every step feeling like a journey. Finally managing to catch a ride in a golf cart, she arrived, awed by the mansion's opulent interior, as bright as day. Marble floors that were probably as common as wood elsewhere left her practically speechless. Then, she heard Sandi's voice.
"Dad, Mom, is Grandpa giving me a present?"
Makiko also spotted the emblem on the case, indicating its hefty value.
Cole murmured, "Not sure if it's for you."
"If not me, then who? It's gotta be a present from Grandpa for me and Mom," Sandi declared confidently.
The manager, still staring at her shoes, was flabbergasted. Millions in jewels, guarded by six bodyguards, just to be handed to this girl?
The manager thought to herself: Oh honey, if you're tired of acting, let me take a turn.
Sandi then called out to the manager by name.
"Tell us, how many pieces of jewelry did Grandpa order?"
The manager slowly raised her head, meeting Sandi's beaming face, and Rolitely responded, "Brandon commissioned two sets of jewelry, valued at fifteen million."
Hearing this, Sandi grinned from ear to ear, her excitement
uncontainable. She leaned in to
whisper to Makiko, "See, Mom? I told you, Grandpa's got something for us he's so sweet.fm over the moon!"
Cole, however, wasn't all smiles about the jewelry sets. He was pondering. Were these sets really meant for Makiko and Sandi? Cole knew custom jewelry couldn
possibly be completed this quickly.
Sandi stood up and approached the table.
"Dad, can I take a peek at the jewelry?"
Cole shook his head. "Without your Grandpa's permission, you can't open it. Wait for him to come, then ask his opinion."
Just then, Brandon and Bennett strolled in, looking particularly cheerful.
Sandi eagerly approached Brandon. "Grandpa, thank you for the gift!"
Brandon blinked in surprise. "What gift?"
Sandi pointed at the box on the table. "Grandpa, your surprise has been delivered.
No need to pretend anymore."
Brandon: "..."
Wait, what...?
