Chapter 638
Luke was straddling his motorcycle when he spotted Josefina heading his way. Without a second thought, he slid back, offering her the rider's seat.
In Josefina's presence, Luke knew he was only fit to be the passenger. His riding skills paled in comparison to hers.
Josefina took off at a breakneck speed, leaving Luke clinging desperately to the back of the motorcycle. He didn't dare wrap his arms around her.
"Boss, you're flying! Just, please, stay safe," he managed to stammer out.
Josefina remained silent. She needed to pick up the pace. If they were late and ended up with no leads, just like before, then what?
After a wild ride, they finally arrived at a small nearby town.
"Boss, that's the place, right up ahead."
Josefina parked the motorcycle at another corner and started running, with Luke trailing behind her.
Luke didn't dare question her. Whatever Josefina said, he did.
Josefina scoped out the surroundings before scaling a fence, with Luke following suit.
Inside, a woman in her fifties was seated. She was about to scream upon seeing Josefina and Luke in the yard, but Josefina spoke first, "The hospital, eighteen years ago, you switched babies, didn't you?"
The woman's expression faltered, her eyes darting away. Josefina quickly moved towards her, cornering her against the wall.
Anyone coming in would head straight inside the house and wouldn't notice the three people hidden under a tree in the corner.
"You've been wrong for eighteen years. Do you plan to continue being wrong? I'm one of those babies. Why did you switch them? Who told you to do it?"
The woman seemed reluctant to speak, as if harboring a dreadful secret.
"Are you sure you won't talk? I've found you. Aren't you afraid those people will find you and silence you forever? Tean give you money to leave this place," Josefina offered.
The woman, realizing her situation, slowly started to speak, "I knew this day would come. I was
for money and made a terrible mistake. Eighteen years ago, a woman came looking for the head nurse and I happened to see her. She was wearing a maskand dressed very elegantly. She wanted us to switch one of the babies with a child from the Harrison family, and give the Harrison child to a janitor. You know the rest."
"What did that woman look like? What color was her dress, her shoes? Did she have any accessories?" Josefina pressed.
"She wore a black dress, black leather shoes, and had a grey watch on her wrist. Behind her ear, there was a mole," the woman confessed, not knowing much else.
After getting her answers, Josefina and Luke took her from that place.
The woman lived there alone; her children had moved away for work.
"Keep her safe, watch her closely," Josefina instructed Luke.
Luke nodded, understanding her concern.
Josefina was puzzled. She and Lena had been switched, but what about Ruby?
Without wasting a moment, Josefina headed to the prison to get some answers from Lauren.
Seeing Lauren shocked Josefina.
Lauren had aged significantly, her hair cut short, almost unrecognizable from the Lauren she remembered.
Upon seeing Josefina, Lauren's emotions surged, yelling, "Josefina, what are you doing here?"
"Why did you take me home that day? When you took me, did you notice anything unusual at the hospital? Or did someone appear Josefina was determined to uncover the truth from Lauren.
