Joelle and Haylee were both caught off guard and quickly tried to distance themselves from the situation.

Haylee, visibly anxious, grabbed Josefina's arm and urged, "Josie, we need to call the police. I didn't get any call from you. Who's out to get you? This is seriously scary!"

Joelle added, "I didn't contact you either. This has nothing to do with me. Josefina, Haylee's right, you should report this to the police."

Josefina locked eyes with Joelle, her expression serious. "I've already reported it. The cops will want to take your statements. I came here to give you a heads up. Since this is a school, the police are trying to keep it low-key and want you to go in by yourselves to make your statements."

Joelle was momentarily speechless before protesting, "Josefina, are you dragging us into your mess? I'm swamped with work; I don't have time for a trip to the police station. Plus, if our classmates see us going there, they'll think we're involved in some scandal. How embarrassing!"

Haylee, pulling Joelle aside, whispered, "We should just go, better than having the police show up at our doorstep, right? We haven't done anything wrong, so it should be fine."

Joelle shot Josefina a disgruntled look, grumbling, "Who knows who she's managed to piss off, and now it's falling back on us."

Josefina responded calmly, "Haylee's right. If it's about a lost phone, then we should report it. My phone has the call log. It would be odd for you not to go. Haylee, where did you lose your phone?"

"At the Bubble Tea spot down on Back Street."

"Thanks, I'll check it out," Josefina said, before Joelle and Haylee reluctantly left.

Josefina sat back, pondering over the situation.

Damita, who had been quiet until now, spoke up, "This afternoon, Haylee didn't want to go out, but Joelle insisted, saying she wanted to treat Haylee to lunch and go shopping together. Not long after they left, they came back, and their phones were gone."

Josefina stood up, "I'll have a look."

If the surveillance footage was missing, could Joelle be involved?

Upon reaching Back Street, Josefina learned that the surveillance footage was intact.

Reviewing the footage, she saw someone stealing Joelle and Haylee's phones.

The thief sped off on a bike as they gave chase.

Watching the footage, Josefina felt a heavy weight in her heart.
