Chapter 767
Josefina chuckled, "Reid, there's still a ton I need to wrap my head around. But you go on ahead, I've got other things to tackle."
"Let me give you a ride, sis."
"Seriously, Reid, no need. I'll just grab a cab. It's rush hour, and the roads are gonna be a nightmare."
Josefina's refusal was quick and firm, leaving Reid no chance to argue. She hopped on a bike-share and pedaled away.
As she joyfully rode the bright yellow bike, she turned a corner and spotted a car parked at the curb, one she knew all too well.
Oliver hadn't left yet.
Josefina biked over and knocked on the car window.
The window rolled down, and Oliver's once stern face lit up with a smile.
"Josie, done with your errands?"
"Why are you still here? Didn't George mention your morning was slammed with meetings?"
"Forget about him. No meeting's as important as you. Josie, you're my top priority." Josefina was momentarily speechless.
Oliver, with his way with words, especially when he's laying it on thick, made it hard to stay mad at him.
Josefina kept her balance on the bike, feet firmly planted on the ground.
"Oliver, with that silver tongue of yours, you should join a debate team."
"Josie, you know me too well; I actually did compete in one."
Josefina rolled her eyes.
"I'm really not in the mood for this. Go do your thing."
As she pedaled away, Oliver jumped out of his car and hurried after her. With one arm, he gently lifted her off the bike, the other steadying it to keep it upright.
Josefina, caught in Oliver's embrace, pushed away and stood firm. "Oliver, are you trying to give me a heart attack?"
Oliver leaned in closer, "Josie, all I want is to love you right."
...
The bike forgotten, Josefina found herself in the passenger seat of Oliver's car.
"Josie, you're free today, why not swing by my office? I got George to stock up on snacks and drinks. Whatever you want, I'll make sure you get it."
Josefina recalled Dorian's office being bugged and figured she should check Oliver's office too.
Without a word, her silence was enough for Oliver. He drove off, clearly in high spirits.
When they arrived, the secretarial
staff was stunned to see Oliver and
Josefina together Oliver,
eager to please, while Josefina kept her cool demeanor. fo
"Is Mr. Oliver trying to woo Ms. Josefina?"
"Don't jump to conclusions, but it sure looks like it."
"Quiet down, aren't you worried about Mr. Oliver getting mad?"
"Vivian, chill out. Do you really want to stop being Mr. Oliver's secretary? Are you sure you'd get the same perks as Ms. Josefina if you were with him content
Vivian silently shook her head.
She knew she wasn't that lucky.
...
Josefina sat at the workspace Oliver had set up for her his very own desk, overflowing with neatly arranged snacks and drinks.
"Oliver, do you think I'm a bottomless pit?" she laughed, eyeing the mountain of snacks. "I'd need a week to finish these."
"Just pick what you like and leave the rest. George will take care of it," Oliver said, doting on her.
"But sitting in your executive chair feels off. What if someone walks in? It'd be super awkward."
"Josie, the only one who should
never feel awkward is you. My seat
is yours whenever. My desk fits your work better, and the chair is
custom-made for comfort. Ive ordered one for you too, but it's not ready yet."
