Chapter 775
Oliver handed her a glass of water, "Josie, take a breath. It's not worth getting all riled up over a fool like him. If he's dumb enough to fall for Shay's tricks, he's asking for it."
Josefina settled into a chair and sipped half the glass. "I could really go for an ice- cold Coke," she said, glancing up at Oliver.
In a flash, Oliver fetched a Coke from the fridge, twisted off the cap, popped in a straw, and handed it to her.
After she took a sip, Oliver took the bottle from her. "Josie, I'll have a chat with Finley later, so don't stress about it."
"Talking to him is like talking to a brick wall. He's too wrapped up in his own world to care about what we think."
The thought of Livia's lost child tugged at Josefina's heart. Finley, of all people, didn't deserve to be that child's father.
Oliver said, "Take a breather. I've got a meeting, but I'll clock out early today and we can grab some BBQ. Sound good?"
Josefina nodded.
Oliver kissed her forehead, ruffled her hair, and headed off to work.
Josefina lay back in the massage chair, lost in thought, before eventually getting up and leaving.
Josefina made her way over to see Luke.
Luke ran a bodyguard agency, and his team was always in high demand. If you needed protection, Luke's place was the go-to.
Josefina walked in as Luke was finishing up a phone call. Once done, he poured her a glass of freshly squeezed juice.
"Boss, I heard you were coming, so I had some juice made for you. Give it a taste."
"Thanks," Josefina said, taking a sip and nodding in approval.
Luke continued, "Boss, I've done some digging. Rowan's behind this mess. Oliver had him locked up, but Brandon bailed him out right after."
Josefina wasn't surprised. She'd seen it coming. Brandon had only one son, Rowan, and had been cleaning up his messes for years. wouldn't just drop everything now.
"How did Sydney get wind of The Moon?"
tle
"Boss, here's the scoop. Greed makes people do crazy things. Turns out we had a traitor in the lab
been
kicked out and is waiting for your call."
Everyone had signed NDAs when they joined the project. If he chose to betray
them, he shouldn't expect Josefina to go easy on him.
"I'll let you handle the interrogation. Do what it takes to find out if he blabbed anything useful to Sydney."
Luke chuckled, "Boss, we're already on it."
Josefina smiled, "You always know exactly what I'm thinking."
Luke laughed, "After all these years by your side, Boss, I've picked up a thing or two."
"Keep me posted if anything comes up."
Luke nodded, "Boss, we've got a fresh batch of bodyguards. Got time to give them some pointers?"
Josefina stretched, "Sure, I could use a bit of stress relief."
Luke led Josefina to the training room, where ten bodyguards were working out, shirtless and in shorts.
Luke clapped his hands, and they
stopped. "You all think you're
hotshots, itching to be the leader.
Let's see how you stack uninst
boss
The group looked puzzled.
"Luke, she looks too delicate. Are you sure she can handle us?"
"Luke, accidents happen. What if someone gets hurt?"
"What if we hurt her? Are you covering the damages?"
