Chapter 774

"Shay, why's Josefina gunning for you? Did something happen with Livia?"

Shay's eyes filled with tears, her voice catching, "Finley, I swear, I haven't done anything to hurt Livia. I have no idea why Josefina's so set on revenge. Maybe it's all just a big misunderstanding?"

Finley suddenly realized that maybe Livia had caught on to his feelings for Shay. Could Josefina's grudge be fueled by jealousy?

"I'll get to the bottom of this," Finley promised. "I'll talk to Josefina. If she's in the wrong, I'll make sure she apologizes to you."

Shay felt a wave of relief wash over her. An apology from Josefina would be sweet.

"Finley, just let it go. I don't want you and my brother falling out because of me. I'm fine, really. I'd hate to see you two at odds."

"Shay, seeing you like this, I have to confront her. Nobody gets to hurt you!" With determination, Finley headed out, intent on setting things right for Shay.

Shay called out after him a couple of times for show, but once he was out of earshot, she settled back and munched on an apple, secretly thrilled to have someone in her corner.

Finley tried calling Josefina, but she was snoozing in her massage chair, oblivious.

Oliver noticed her phone buzzing and saw Finley's name on the screen. Picking it up, he stepped outside to answer.

"Josefina, where are you?" Finley barked, his tone loaded with accusation.

"What do you want with Josie? Watch your tone. Is she your enemy or something?" Oliver shot back coldly.

"Is Josefina there with you? I need to talk to her!"

"If you've got issues, take it up with me. Leave Josie out of it. What, you think she burned your house down?

You're acting like you're ready to start a riot.

"She hurt Shay! Shay's in the hospital, can't even walk. Oliver, no matter how much you care about Josefina, you can't just ignore what happened to Shay." fo

Oliver chuckled, dismissive, "Why should I care about Shay? What's she to me? Her fate's got nothing to do with me."

Oliver's icy demeanor and mocking words sent chills through his secretaries, who

sat at a cautious distance, murmuring among themselves.

Just then, Josefina emerged from the office, grabbed the phone from Oliver, and pulled him back inside.
