Chapter 935

Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess · Dana E.

Sydney's heart ached as she looked at Shay, who seemed to have lost so much of herself, both from her injuries and the weight she'd shed.

"Shay, you've really been through the wringer," Sydney said gently.

Shay's eyes flashed with bitterness. "It's all because of that witch, Josefina. She hired a nurse who made my life a living hell every day. If it weren't for her, I'd be up and walking by now."

Sydney nodded, having had her own share of troubles with Josefina and knowing full well how tough she could be.

Dominic lounged silently in his chair, absorbed in his own thoughts.

"Mom, you've got to talk to Dad," Shay urged. "We can't let Josefina worm her way into the Baldwin family. Dad cares about me; he'll make sure to set things right!"

Dominic glanced at Shay with a smirk. "Rowan wants to divorce Mom."

"What!" Shay gasped, eyes wide with shock.

Sydney shot Dominic a sharp look. "Why are you telling Shay this?"

Overwhelmed, Shay blurted, "Mom, why does he want a divorce? Did he find out something? You've always been so careful; there's no way he could know!"

"Shay, this isn't your burden to bear. Focus on getting better. We'll tackle everything else when the time comes."

Shay wanted to dig deeper, but Sydney rose and left the room, leaving Shay to her own thoughts.

Noticing the strain on both Sydney and Dominic, Shay wisely held her tongue.

She fiddled with the remote to adjust her bed, propping herself up comfortably. "Mom, what's next? You can't just let Josefina keep walking all over you!"

Dominic chimed in, "You can stay quiet if you want."

Shay glared at him. "Just zip it!"

"Enough, all of you!" Sydney's exasperation was clear. "If we don't stick together, how are we supposed to handle anything?"

Despite the saying that two heads are better than one, the trio couldn't come up with a plan.

Shay started to say something but thought better of it, realizing she had no solutions either.

The room fell silent, so still that you could hear a pin drop.

Meanwhile, Josefina made her way to the Rowland house, tending to Sandy with her usual care and bringing her medicine.

"Josie, I can't thank you enough.

Thanks to you, my health has

improved so much, fm sleeping better, eating better-I don't know how to repay you," Sandy said, full of gratitude.

Josefina smiled. "Aunt Sandy, you've already paid me. It's my job to help."

"You're too modest. I bought a set of

red agate jewelry at an auction yesterday I want you to have it Sandy insisted, placing the jewelry in Josefina's hands.

Josefina hesitated, feeling uneasy with the generous gesture. "Aunt Sandy really can't accept this r

With that, she grabbed her medical bag and hurried out, her steps brisk and

determined.

Sandy handed the jewelry to Caiden, urging him to catch up with Josefina and give it to her.

Caiden, clutching the gift, raced after Josefina.

"Josefina," Caiden called.

Josefina glanced back, spotting the box in Caiden's hand, and picked up her pace.

Caiden chuckled, trying to catch up, but Josefina was too quick.

She jumped into her car and drove off, leaving Caiden standing at the doorway, watching her car fade into the distance.

As Josefina continued her drive, she glanced at her rearview mirror and noticed a car tailing her.

Her sharp memory had already pegged the license plate number.

With a sly smile, she called up Luke, giving him the lowdown before stepping on the gas and speeding through the intersection.
