Chapter 1112
Hearing Jimmie and Harold simultaneously spit out the word "He's" with such exaggerated expressions, Melvin leaned in. He looked left at Jimmie, right at Harold, and asked in confusion, "He's who? You guys recognize him?"
Hearing this, Ebony Fox and Coralie rushed over immediately. Figuring out his identity might give them crucial information about Sanctum Holdings.
"Melvin, get over here." Jimmie grabbed Melvin by the back of the neck and pulled him close, shoving the photo in front of his face. "Does he look familiar to you? Especially those eyes!"
Familiar? Melvin was forced to stare at the picture, analyzing it seriously. The man in the image was incredibly weak, his eye sockets deeply sunken from illness, his cheeks covered in scars.
"When you were six, you sneaked into a lab and fell into a deep pit," Jimmie said, his voice tight. "Someone desperately pulled you up and stayed by your bed all night. When you woke up, he was the first person you saw. Do you remember who that was?"
Melvin fell into a daze as he listened. Slowly, he looked up, his brow furrowed. "The person who saved me and stayed by my bed all night... was our father."
Jimmie and Harold stared at him silently, their expressions grave.
"Jimmie, Harold, are you saying the man in the photo is our father?"
Melvin's words sent shockwaves through Ebony Fox and Coralie. What? The man Juniper had been investigating this whole time was their father?
Melvin grabbed the other photos, examining each one carefully. Slowly, a long-buried memory surfaced. The face in his mind. gradually merged with the face in the photos. "It really..." Melvi looked at Jimmie, his voice trembling. "He looks just like Dad."
Human memory usually starts solidifying around age five. Deep memories can resurface unexpectedly at any moment.
"Sanctum Holdings runs a medical research project, and our parents were medical researchers," Harold added. "For as long as I can remember, I'd always hear them discussing medical issues."
"Not only that," Jimmie continued, his voice heavy. "Our parents erased our identities and dragged us into hiding. They were running from someone."
Jimmie paused for a few seconds before adding, "Juniper mentioned that the man in
the photo has a wife who is also a medical researcher. It's all too much of a coincidence, isn't it?"
"It is." Ebony Fox stared off into the distance, her body rigid. "Juniper told me that when she was treating him, she held up fingers to test him. She said he mistook two for seven and thought his brainwas too far gone. But thinking about it now... he must have recognized her as Seven."
"He did!" Coralie's pupils dilated as she paced anxiously. "If that's the case, what do we do?"
"If that's the case..." Harold's Adam's apple bobbed. "Sanctum Holdings' ultimate target might be Juniper."
"What do you mean?" Jimmie's expression changed, and the sisters leaned in, full of worry.
"Do you remember what our parents
told us during the shipwreck?"
Jimmie tried to recall the hazy past
"They said if we survived we had to
protect our youngest sister. Especially before she turned eighteen, we weren't supposed to go near her."
