Chapter 1432
Chapter 1432:
Adah was left speechless, barely able to contain a smile. She never would have imagined that Ruben held her in such high esteem, or that he was so determined for her to join the Evans family.
Elliana nudged her friend impatiently. “Well? What do you think of Lance? Do you want to marry him and join the Evans family?”
“Lance?” Adah repeated the name softly as she conjured his face in her mind. She hesitated for a moment. “That man is definitely my type. But…” A sigh escaped her lips.
Although she had spoken Lance’s name, it was Allan’s face that flooded her thoughts. More than two weeks had already passed since their last encounter. Before disappearing, he had mentioned that he would be gone for a while to prepare her birthday gift. They had even made a bet: if she truly liked his gift, she would have to marry him; otherwise, he would vanish from her life forever.
Adah had already decided to make Allan lose, no matter what he offered her. Even if she liked his gift, she would force herself to say she hated it. That was the only way to get rid of him for good. Still, she had accepted the bet and had every intention of keeping her word. She couldn’t start seeing anyone else before then. She had to wait for her birthday, receive the gift, reject Allan, and only then move on.
“But what?” Elliana pressed.
Adah snapped back to reality. “We’ll have to discuss it next month.”
The other woman looked bewildered. “Why would I have to wait until next month?”
Adah had never hidden anything from her friend, so she explained the bet in full detail. “So, as you can see, there’s no point in thinking about Lance right now. At least not until after my birthday.”
Elliana nodded thoughtfully, a glint of clarity in her eyes. Allan was not the kind of man who set himself up for failure. He would never make such a risky bet unless he was certain he would win. But what exactly did he have planned? What kind of gift could give him such confidence that it would melt Adah’s heart?
Could it be jewelry? A luxury house? Sports cars? No, she was sure that man was far too clever for something so predictable. He understood that Adah had already lived in abundance and would never insult her with something superficial or flashy.

Elliana suspected it had to be something that would reach her friend’s very soul. But what could it possibly be? That woman was proud and guarded her heart fiercely. There were very few things in this world that could truly move her.
Allan hadn’t spent much time with Adah, and they barely knew each other in depth. Yet he was willing to risk everything on this single gesture. That meant he believed he had discovered her greatest vulnerability — a guaranteed victory.
If that was true, then there could be only one explanation: Sally. Was it even possible? Had Allan actually found Adah’s mother?
The thought made Elliana’s eyes widen in surprise. She could almost see Allan’s strategy unfolding — a net slowly closing around her friend, leaving her with no way out.
Unaware of what the other woman was thinking, Adah looked puzzled. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
