Chapter 759
May soon ended, and the temperature in Northborough rose with the start of June.
One evening, after finishing his work, Stewart drove directly to Starlight Entertainment to pick up Briony. She said she needed a little more time, so after calling her, Stewart parked downstairs to wait. As it turned out, the woman who needed 'a little more time' ended up delaying until the sun had set and night had fallen. Stewart knew she was working, so he didn't call to rush her.
Finally, at seven o'clock, he saw Briony walk out of the building. Trailing behind her was a young man calling her name. Briony stopped and turned to face him. It was Nell Mallory, a twenty-eight-year-old screenwriter. Briony was very impressed with his script and had invited him over to discuss the contract today. The meeting had gone smoothly, and the contract was signed.
Nell walked up to her, scratching the back of his head. He wore black-rimmed glasses and had a studious, clean-cut look. Briony saw him as a younger brother and knew he was a bit shy, so she offered a gentle smile. "It's okay, you can speak freely."
"Ms. Kensington, I really admire you!"
Briony was taken aback for a second, then smiled faintly. "Thank you. You're very talented yourself."
"I've heard about you, that you used to be an art restorer. My next script is actually about an art restorer, so I was wondering if I could add your contact info? That way, if I have any questions, I could ask for your guidance."
"Of course. I'm looking forward to your new script. When you've written it, show it to me. If the theme is right, I'll invest," Briony said, taking out her phone. "You can scan my code."
Nell immediately took out his phone and scanned Briony's contact code. After they were connected, Nell looked at Briony, his excitement palpable. "Ms. Kensington, thank you so much!"
"You have a lot of talent. If you can maintain this level of quality, I have no doubt you'll become a renowned screenwriter one day."
Nell was floored to receive such high praise from Briony. "Ms. Kensington, thank you for your confidence and encouragement! I'll stay true to my vision and work hard to write even better scripts!"
As they were talking, Stewart slowly lowered the passenger-side window.
"Bryn."
Briony turned at the sound of his voice. Stewart, sitting in the car, gave her a small wave. She smiled at him, then turned back to Nell. "I should get going. Just message me if you need anything."
Nell nodded. "Okay, Ms. Kensington. Drive safe!"
"You too." Briony gave him a parting nod and walked towards the black Bentley Stewart got out of the car, rounded to the passenger side, and opened the door for her. Briony walked over and bent down to get in.
Nell, standing nearby, watched as Stewart leaned into the car to fasten Briony seatbelt. Brigny flinched slightly. After securing the belt, Stewart's fingers tipped her chin up, and his lips captured hers in a firm, possessive kiss.
Briony was speechless. Nell was stunned.
Stewart straightened up and closed the car door. He turned, his narrow eyes sweeping over Nell with a slight nod. Regal and indifferent, he didn't say a word, but his actions were a clear declaration of ownership. Nell managed a stiff nod in return, his smile strained. But then he thought, it made sense. How could a woman as exceptional as Briony not have a partner? The man before him was distinguished and handsome, with a powerful aura-a perfect match for her. It was just... Nell couldn't shake the feeling that he looked familiar...
