Chapter 760

The streets were bustling. At just past seven, it was the peak of the city's evening rush hour. The black Bentley moved slowly through the traffic. Soft music played inside the car, but even though Briony was off the clock, she had already taken three work-related calls in less than ten minutes.

As she hung up the third call, Stewart glanced at her. "Is business at Starlight Entertainment booming lately?"

"We invested in a documentary film being shot on a snow-capped mountain. It's in the preparation stage, so there are a lot of details to confirm," Briony said, rubbing the back of her neck. "The previous script couldn't get approval, so today I finally found a decent screenwriter."

Stewart's eyebrows rose slightly. "The one who just added you on that messaging app?"

"Mhm," Briony confirmed. When she mentioned Nell, a hint of admiration crept into her eyes. "His story structure and plot design are very clever. I heard he started out writing online fiction, which makes his skill quite rare."

Stewart's lips thinned, and his grip on the steering wheel tightened. "You seem to think very highly of him."

"He's hardworking and has a natural talent," Briony said, oblivious to Stewart's mood. She was just happy he was taking an interest in her work, giving them a rare topic to discuss, and wanted to chat more.

"Bryn."

Briony looked at him. "What's wrong?"

"Are you really going to praise another man right in front of me?"

Briony was confused. "?"

They had just stopped at a red light. Stewart reached over and took her hand, his Adam's apple bobbing. "Can't you smell that sour scent in the air?"

Briony was silent.

"My jealousy is overflowing."

She was at a loss for words.

"So, to make it up to me, let's go on a date tonight."

Briony finally couldn't hold back a laugh. "Stewart, if you want to go on a date, you can just say so. You don't need such a long preamble."

"So, is that a yes?" Stewart asked, his dark eyes reflecting her face. "I've booked a hotel. We can spend the night out, hmm?"

Briony bit her lip. After a moment, she said, "Today is Friday."

Stewart didn't understand. "What about Friday?"

"We've both been so busy lately. The little ones have a complaint."

At that, Stewart paused.

"They've been wanting to go camping with their mom and dad. They said all their friends at preschool go camping with their parents every weekend."

Briony looked at him. "Stewart, let's both clear our schedules this weekend and spend time with the kids."

"Okay," Stewart agreed, squeezing her hand. "Then how about the four of us have a family sleepover tonight, hmm?"

Wanting to make the children happy,

Briony didn't notice the cunning glint in his eyes and nodded in

agreement. Stewart smiled,

satisfied, and mentally cancelled

their date for the night.

However, just as they were approaching Pearbrook Mansion, Briony received a call

from the caregiver.

Xenia Cooper was awake!

About fifteen minutes later, Briony and Stewart rushed to the hospital's inpatient ward. By the time they arrived, Cedric Clarke was just leaving the room with the attending physician. After a quick inquiry confirmed that Xenia Cooper was out of danger, Briony and Stewart finally felt relieved.

Outside the room, Cedric Clarke looked at them and said, "She's truly

lucky. To wake up after all that...

she's been given a second éñance

You two should talk to her, convince her not to try anything so foolish again."

Briony nodded. "I'll talk to her."

"Alright, if there's nothing else, I'm heading out. Star is still waiting for me to come home for dinner!"

"Okay," Briony said. "Drive safe."

Cedric Clarke gave a wave and left. Briony and Stewart exchanged a look before entering the hospital room one after the other.
