The girl took a slow sip of her juice, then, as if casually, she turned to him with a sudden question. “Do you think this could be considered a date?”
Neal was caught off guard and nearly choked on his soup, coughing violently as he tried to process her words.
“A date?” Neal stared at her, his eyes wide in disbelief. “Are you serious? I think this is only the second time we’ve even met, isn’t it?”
“Is it?” The girl blinked, then broke into a laugh, her cheeks lighting up with two adorable dimples. “Wow, it really is! I can’t believe it’s only our second time meeting. It feels like we’ve known each other forever, like there’s no distance between us at all. It’s like we just clicked instantly.”
Neal’s thoughts were a jumbled mess, swirling with confusion and discomfort.

That was the last thing Neal felt. In fact, he felt more like a stranger to her than anything else.
All he knew about her was that she was from Luminary University. Beyond that, he had no idea what she studied, how old she was, or even her name.
Neal never imagined he’d find himself in such an awkward situation, with a cute girl falling head over heels for him.
For him, this wasn’t the beginning of a romance—it was more of an annoyance.
With that thought in mind, Neal picked up the pace, eating even faster, eager to finish before things could get any more awkward.

“No, no…” Neal waved his hand dismissively. “I receive plenty of virtual gifts during my streams.”
“Then why are you starving?” The girl’s voice shot up, her anger flaring as she slammed her hand on the table. “I bet you’re being exploited by the shady platform, right? They’re holding back your money, aren’t they? I’m going to file a complaint.”
“That’s not the case, and I’m not starving. I’m just eating quickly because… because…”
He couldn’t bring himself to admit the real reason—that the tension in the air was making him rush through the meal just to get out of there. “It’s just that the braised pork here is so good, I can’t stop myself.” Neal couldn’t help but be impressed with himself for coming up with such a solid excuse on the spot.
