Chapter 247
Chapter 247:
With one last venomous glare, Beckett spun around and stormed off, the stairwell door slamming behind him like a gunshot.
Bonita recoiled, her body trembling like a scared rabbit as her tears flowed uncontrollably.
Fernanda gently wrapped her arm around Bonita’s shoulders, offering a soothing pat. “Don’t cry. He’s gone.”
“I’m sorry,” Bonita’s voice trembled with guilt. “I never meant to drag you into this. I’m really sorry.”
“It’s alright, we’re friends. No need for all the formalities,” Fernanda reassured her, brushing Bonita’s tangled hair back gently. “I’ll take you back to school now, okay?”
Bonita gave a small nod.
After walking a few steps, Bonita suddenly paused.
Her eyes were swollen and red as she turned to Fernanda, asking softly, “Were you here to see Neal?”
“Yes,” Fernanda replied. “The elevator was too crowded, so I decided to take the stairs and ended up bumping into you.”
Thankfully, she had chosen the stairs. Otherwise, who knew what worse Beckett might have done to Bonita?
Bonita glanced away, too embarrassed to meet Fernanda’s eyes.
“I’m not going to see Neal now. First, I’ll take you back to school,” Fernanda said, trying to ease her mind. “Don’t stress over it. Just rest in your dorm, and we’ll figure things out later.”
Despite her words, Bonita couldn’t shake the feeling that she had wasted Fernanda’s time.
“You don’t have to do that,” Bonita murmured. “Just go see Neal. I’ll be fine to head back alone. Beckett… he should be gone by now. He won’t bother me anymore today.”
“How did you even run into him?” Fernanda asked, her voice tinged with concern. “That wasn’t just a coincidence, was it?”

Bonita bit her lip, her voice full of bitterness. “I was just bringing Neal breakfast this morning. When I left his room, Beckett grabbed me and dragged me here. He must’ve been waiting for me, knowing I’d see Neal. He was furious. He hit me, yelled at me… He’s terrifying.”
Bonita thought she had been cautious, trying to avoid trouble.
She had stayed away from the hospital for days, worried Beckett would notice, but today she couldn’t stay away any longer. She had to check on Neal, only to be caught by Beckett.
The moment he saw her, he lost control again.
Bonita couldn’t hold back her tears as they poured down her face. Why did this have to happen to her? Why was she the one stuck with someone as dangerous as Beckett?
She was only twenty, and her whole life was still ahead of her. How could she possibly live her life like this? Was she meant to spend every day under Beckett’s control?
The thought alone was enough to make her stomach churn in fear. Her future felt so dark, and she couldn’t help but feel completely hopeless.
Fernanda had helped her this time, and maybe she could again, but could she always come to her rescue?
