Chapter 300:

Luckily, her energy levels weren’t significantly impacted because she naturally required less sleep.

“I’ll get up too,” Wendy said, mirroring Fernanda’s movement. “We’ve got a hiking trip today, and it’s been ages since I’ve done one. I’m excited.”

Downstairs, they found the living room bustling with activity as small groups prepared to head out.

“Already up?” Jeff greeted them warmly. “Why not catch a bit more sleep?”

“We’ve had enough,” Fernanda replied lightly, glancing at the door. “Where’s everyone off to?”

“They were up at the crack of dawn, had breakfast, and now they’re raring to go for a hike,” Jeff said with a grin. “They’re all part of the outdoor club, obsessed with hiking and trekking, so they’re practically buzzing with energy.”

Fernanda nodded and made her way to the dining hall alongside Wendy.

“I know most of you don’t know each other too well, so I figured a group outing might feel forced. Just like last night, everyone can head out in smaller groups—it’s much more relaxed that way,” Jeff explained, his tone casual yet considerate.

A few minutes later, Sloane and Bonita appeared at the foot of the stairs. Bonita looked bright-eyed and refreshed, while Sloane shuffled along, yawning as if the weight of the morning clung to her like a heavy fog.

Bonita slid into the seat next to Wendy and leaned in, curiosity lighting up her face. “Did you hear anything strange last night?”

She hesitated, still unsure if the muffled noises she remembered were real or just a figment of her half-asleep imagination. She hadn’t bothered to check, simply turning over and surrendering to sleep again.

“Yes, there was some noise,” Wendy replied, sipping her milk with an air of nonchalance before diving into the details of the previous night’s events.

Wendy’s voice was loud enough to echo not just through the dining hall but also across the living room, drawing everyone’s attention. Before long, the space was packed with people eager to hear Wendy’s account of what had happened the previous night.

After hearing her story, a stunned silence fell over the room.

It was clear to everyone that Rafael’s intentions had been nothing short of malicious.

Bonita’s shock was so apparent that her jaw nearly hit the floor. She hurried over to Fernanda, concern written all over her face as she scanned her up and down. “Are you okay?” she asked urgently.

“I’m fine,” Fernanda answered, flashing a smile. “Wendy stopped them the moment they left my room, so they didn’t get the chance to carry out their plan.” The room buzzed with chatter.

Many of the people present were familiar with Rafael, and hearing what had happened left them torn.

The kind, sunny Rafael they thought they knew now seemed like a far cry from the manipulative, malicious man Wendy had described.

They couldn’t claim Rafael was innocent, especially after some of them had witnessed Bobby’s fury the night before.
