Chapter 325
Chapter 325:
Hearing his sister defend Fernanda immediately soured Rafael’s mood. He grumbled in frustration, “Braylee, I’m the one who got beaten up. Why are you taking her side?”
Braylee’s heart melted at the sight of her brother so upset.
Growing up, Braylee and Rafael had always shared a special bond, one that had only deepened with time. Now, seeing Rafael bruised and battered in front of her, Braylee couldn’t help but feel a rush of concern. It was hard for her to see him like this, and the distress she felt was almost impossible to hide. With a softer tone, she reassured him, saying, “Hey, hey, don’t be upset. I’m not on her side. I’m just worried about you. Ava isn’t worth all this trouble.”
“She’s totally worth it,” Rafael shot back, his conviction unwavering. “I care about Ava, and I’m not going to let anyone pick on her without standing up for her.”
“Okay, okay, take a breath,” Braylee said, patting his shoulder. “Just relax. There’s no rush. We’ve got plenty of time.”
Rafael’s mood brightened, and he asked eagerly, “So, you’re not against me standing up for Ava now?”
Braylee didn’t answer right away. Instead, she flashed him a small smile.
She thought Rafael was so caught up in how great Ava seemed that he was acting on impulse. Over time, though, she was sure he would move on, eventually.
Forgetting about Ava and no longer bothering with her petty issues, Rafael would likely stop caring about her over time. Moreover, now that Ava was abroad, they wouldn’t cross paths much, and the distance would only lessen his attachment.
Meanwhile, Bobby had caught Braylee’s gaze earlier.
“Did you see that, Fernanda?” Bobby said. “Rafael’s sister looked like she was ready to bite your head off.”
Fernanda let out a slight, dismissive smile. “I don’t think she’s got a problem with me. She probably just comes off that way from being in charge for so long—it’s just her natural authority, not malice.”
Bobby raised an eyebrow, a bit puzzled. “You’ve always kept your thoughts to yourself. So why are you suddenly speaking so highly of Rafael’s sister?”

Fernanda chuckled, replying, “What’s wrong with recognizing the good in people? Or do you think I’ve always been some kind of villain?”
“No, no,” he quickly waved his hands. “That’s not what I meant at all.”
Bobby thought Fernanda was overly positive about Braylee; to him, she didn’t seem like a good person at all.
“Just because I’m saying that doesn’t mean I’m letting my guard down,” Fernanda continued. “I know you’re looking out for me, but don’t worry, I’ll be careful.”
Bobby felt it was time to have a serious word with Rafael. He wanted to tell Rafael that if there were any problems, Rafael should take them up with him. After all, he was the one who’d given Rafael a good beating, so there was no need to drag Fernanda into it.
Once they left the hospital, Fernanda spoke up. “You two go on ahead. I have a few things I need to take care of.”
Wendy quickly added, “I’ve got stuff to do as well.”
