Chapter 531:

Unruffled, Cristian reclined, a smirk curling his lips. “Still having trouble with your legs, huh? What’s the word from the doc? Looks like you might be stuck in that chair for good.”

“Get out!” Nolan shouted, his face turning scarlet with rage.

“I must say, I was quite impressed by your antics. Despite your disability, you kept making things difficult for me behind the scenes,” Cristian tutted, shaking his head. “Seems your leg injury isn’t as serious as you make it out to be, given that you still have time for scheming.”

Seething, Nolan wheeled over, grabbed Cristian’s shirt, and tried to haul him off the sofa. But his strength wasn’t enough. Cristian, always the stronger of the two, barely budged.

Nolan’s long, sharp fingernails raked across Cristian’s arm, drawing blood that began to drip slowly.

Still, Cristian didn’t move. He simply kicked out, sending Nolan and his wheelchair crashing to the floor.

Cristian remained seated, casually resting one hand behind him on the sofa, completely unfazed by the blood running down his arm. “So, you set up a whole studio and hired some snoops to trash my name, right?” he chuckled. “Clever move.”

Nolan lay on the floor, his eyes seething with visceral rage. He looked up at Cristian like he was the devil himself.

“Yes, I did it,” he said fiercely. “What are you going to do about it? Do you think anyone would take your side over mine? After all these years, you still don’t see where you stand with the Reeds? You’re less than nothing to us.”

Cool as ever, Cristian just stared back, as though he were watching a theater performance.

“Here to settle the score, are you? Fine, I failed this time. But just wait, next time I’ll nail it! If you’ve got the guts, go ahead and kill me. I dare you.”

“Why on earth would I kill you?” Cristian laughed, his whole body shaking with mirth, as if Nolan had just told the funniest joke in the world. “We live in a society with laws, remember? Or did you forget that, cooped up in here?”

No matter how Nolan ranted or raved, Cristian remained unbothered. He’d heard it all before, ever since they were little.

Nolan had always been the golden boy, pampered and protected, especially after his tragic accident. His family skirted around words like “crippled” or “broken legs,” treating him like he was made of glass. Cristian’s words were like daggers, each one hitting home.

“Got any more tricks? Bring them on,” Cristian said with a grin. “Just make sure your next scheme’s a bit more polished. Don’t let me catch on too soon, or it’s all for nothing.”

Nolan tried desperately to stand, but his legs felt like noodles, and his arms couldn’t bear the weight. He squirmed on the floor, pouring every ounce of willpower into the effort, but he couldn’t lift himself.
