Chapter 533:

The villa’s soundproofing shielded her from the drama, offering a sanctuary of silence in each room, with a call bell available should Nolan need anything.

Cristian left the house silently, his path marked by a stain on the pristine floor.

Upon noticing a few droplets of blood, the maid’s heart skipped a beat. She stumbled backward in shock, falling to the floor. Panic surged through her as she scrambled upstairs, knocking on Nolan’s door, only to be met with his irate demand for her to leave.

Despite his anger, she managed a quick glimpse through the door’s crack. Seeing Nolan, pale but apparently unharmed, brought her a slight sense of relief.

The blood must have belonged to Cristian.

The thought sent a shiver down her spine. Shaking her head to clear it, she quickly mopped up the bloodstains and retreated to her duties, enveloped in silence.

After exiting the villa, Cristian didn’t immediately leave. Instead, he wandered over to a dilapidated building at the edge of the property and paused, staring at it.

The building, long forsaken, showed its age with peeling white paint that revealed the underlying gray bricks. The courtyard gate was barred with a rusty lock, likely jammed beyond use. Weeds had claimed the space, some reaching waist-high, crowding the pathway and obscuring the building’s entrance.

Cristian’s gaze lingered on the neglected structure, his eyes distant and thoughtful.

He was jolted from his reverie by a mouse scurrying through the undergrowth. Looking up at the sky, he strode back to his car and instructed the driver, “Let’s go.”

As the car pulled away, the driver caught Cristian’s eye in the rearview mirror and ventured cautiously, “Mr. Reed, your visit today… your grandfather might find out.”

Cristian’s response was relaxed, his smile dismissive. “It doesn’t matter. I never planned to keep it a secret.”

“I just worry, sir. If he learns you were with Nolan, it might stir trouble.”

Cristian watched the landscape glide past the window, unbothered. “It’s fine,” he assured with a casual smile. “Do you think I’m scared of—”

On the sprawling Reed estate, each adult child was allotted a quaint dwelling of their own. Cristian was no exception. However, he had never actually lived there, and the interior remained a mystery to him.

As they departed from the grand Reed mansion, the driver turned to ask, “Mr. Reed, should we head over to pick up your cousin now?”

Cristian glanced at his watch and shook his head. “No, let’s just find a spot to park. We’ve got time to kill.”

They pulled into an outdoor lot near a bustling mall, and the driver stepped out. Settling into the back seat, Cristian leaned back and closed his eyes, slipping into a quick nap.

About ten minutes later, a soft knock on the window stirred him awake. It was the driver, holding a plastic bag.
