Chapter 539
Chapter 539:
Quietly, her mother stood behind him, stepping forward only once to prevent another blow. Disappointment clouded her mother’s eyes, mirroring her confusion at the path Bonita had chosen.
Soon, a phone call summoned her father away from the confrontation. Once he was gone, her mother took a seat opposite Bonita, exhaling deeply before speaking.
“Bonita, what’s prompting you to clash with Beckett?”
No words came from Bonita; she remained perfectly still.
“Your father was livid when he found out. He and Beckett’s father were in the middle of an important meeting when the police called them here. How could you bring the police in to arrest Beckett? What were you thinking? Don’t blame your father for losing his temper with you. When you see Beckett and his family later, make sure to apologize, alright?”
This prompted a response from Bonita. She shifted her gaze to her mother, her eyes swollen, a grimace of irony on her face as she asked, “Apologize? To them?”
“What’s the choice here?” her mother retorted. “You’ve reported Beckett to the authorities, and now his parents have traveled here because of that. Isn’t your action a bit extreme? An apology is the least you can do.”
At that moment, the door swung open. It wasn’t just her father re-entering; Beckett and his parents stepped through the doorway.
Bonita observed their arrival without emotion, feeling a profound sense of despair engulf her as they stepped into the room.
Beckett had already been set free by the police, looking far from troubled—he appeared quite energized.
On the other hand, Bonita seemed completely out of sorts, her disarray evident.
Upon noticing her condition, Beckett smirked and carelessly threw himself onto a sofa.

His father, Jett Ramirez, and his mother, Nettie Ramirez, were visibly displeased, with Nettie’s fiery gaze piercing through Bonita with unmistakable intensity.
“Bonita, are you out of your mind? What could Beckett possibly have done to deserve this? Calling the police? Are you deliberately trying to ruin his reputation?” Nettie’s voice was sharp, each word dripping with indignation. With her arms crossed tightly over her chest, she towered over Bonita, her disdain unmistakable.
“Please, Mrs. Ramirez, don’t be too upset,” Bonita’s mother, Lola Perry, interjected, her tone hurried and placating. Turning toward her daughter, she urged, “Bonita, be a good girl and apologize right away.”
“I don’t owe them an apology,” Bonita mumbled, her head lowered in defiance. “I haven’t done anything wrong.”
Nettie’s fury only intensified at Bonita’s response. “Did you hear that? This is how she speaks to us? A spoiled brat! After everything we’ve done for her, this is the thanks we get! What kind of upbringing made her so impossible?”
“Please, don’t get upset,” Bonita’s father, Myron Perry, quickly intervened, his voice strained with urgency as he tried to defuse the situation. “We’ll talk to her again.”
