Chapter 720
Chapter 720:
His lips lingered as they moved to her ear, where he whispered with a smile, “I knew it! You always have a knack for noticing when I’m around.”
Fernanda rolled her eyes. “Such a sweet talker, aren’t you?”
Cristian’s laughter rumbled through his chest as he pulled Fernanda into a warm embrace, letting her rest her head against his shoulder.
“How long have you been waiting here?” Fernanda asked, lifting her head slightly to look at him.
“Maybe two hours,” Cristian replied nonchalantly, before shifting the topic. “Did you have breakfast?”
“I did. I’m on my way to the library.”
“I figured you’d head to the library. That’s why I waited for you here,” Cristian said, his eyes drifting to her bag. “But why don’t we skip that for today? I’ll take you somewhere else.”
“I really need to study. I have an exam tomorrow.”
“You still need to study?” Cristian raised an eyebrow, feigning surprise. “Come on, you seem to know everything.”
With a playful smirk, Fernanda reached out and pinched his waist. “You’re flattering me.”
Cristian’s grin widened as he caught her hand. “Well, everything I say comes from the heart. You truly know it all. Honestly, a little clumsiness wouldn’t hurt. It would make you a bit more… endearing.”
Sitting up, Fernanda listened, a smile tugging at her lips as his compliments washed over her like a gentle breeze. The sunlight still managed to seep through the car window, but Fernanda could feel the heat searing her cheeks, causing her face to flush with warmth.
It was hard to pinpoint the exact cause of the sudden rush in her chest — was it the affectionate way he looked at her or the admiration reflected in his words? Either way, her heart raced in response.
“What is going on with me?” Fernanda thought, frowning.
She had heard compliments all her life, and they no longer stirred her. However, when Cristian spoke those words, her cheeks flushed, and her heart thudded louder than usual. Why did his words have such a powerful effect on her?

Reaching out, Cristian lightly pinched her cheek, a playful smile tugging at his lips. Leaning in closer, he asked, “What’s going on in that head of yours? Your face is practically burning.”
“I’m leaving,” Fernanda said, pushing him away as she moved toward the door.
But Cristian held her arm, refusing to let go. “Come on, just let me take you to study. I’ll stop teasing.”
With a sharp glance, Fernanda turned to face him. “Really?”
He had come in the morning to take her to study? That didn’t sound like a believable story.
Cristian held up three fingers as if making a vow to the heavens. “I swear,” he said seriously.
“Alright then,” Fernanda replied, her gaze fixed ahead. “Let’s go.” Without another word, Cristian exited the car and slid into the driver’s seat, the engine purring to life.
