Chapter 808:

Kevin couldn’t stand a drama queen.

Clement remained silent in response to Kevin’s accusations. However, he managed to look wounded and in pain.

“Let’s go,” Fernanda said, pulling him gently.

“Will it delay your work? If it will, I can go myself. You don’t have to worry about me,” Clement said.

“Stop acting tough, and let’s go.”

“Let me take you guys to the hospital,” Ector offered.

Before Fernanda could refuse, Clement smiled and said, “Thanks for your help.”

Kevin, after a fierce internal struggle, hesitantly followed.

Ector drove while Kevin sat in the passenger seat, watching Clement through the rearview mirror as he leaned against Fernanda. This man was definitely trying to provoke him.

They soon arrived at the hospital, and Clement went into the examination room while the others waited outside.

Kevin was no longer in the mood to play with his phone; he was extremely irritable. He gently nudged Fernanda’s shoe with his toe and said, “I’m not lying to you. That man was faking it. He’s trying to provoke me.”

Fernanda stared at Kevin and asked, “Why would he do that?”

“How should I know?” Kevin retorted.

During the competition, Kevin had paid no attention to Clement. Later, he heard Clement call Fernanda in a way that implied intimacy, and he found it unpleasant.

“Maybe you misunderstood him. He didn’t mean anything by it,” Ector said.

“Why are you taking his side, Ector? He’s fine. Just wait and see. He’s faking his pain just to get sympathy,” Kevin said unhappily.

Not long after, Clement’s examination results came out. He had a concussion.

“Um, that’s unexpected,” Kevin stuttered.

“Didn’t I say he wasn’t faking it?” Ector said lightly, tapping Kevin’s head. “You shouldn’t always assume the worst of others.”

“I’m not assuming. He really was trying to rile me up,” Kevin said angrily. Why didn’t they believe him?

Clement’s condition was minor, so he didn’t need to be hospitalized. The doctor said he could go home and return for regular checkups.

On their way back, Clement practically sprawled over Fernanda.

“Fernanda, do you remember that time back in Zhota when those punks tried to shake us down at the arcade? That was the first time I got into a fight. I was a little scared, but after doing it more often, I wasn’t scared anymore,” Clement said softly.

“Try not to get into fights. You’re the one who suffers if you get hurt,” Fernanda said, patting him on the back.

“I can’t do that. That’s not possible. I’ll fight anybody who causes you trouble.” Although Clement said this softly, everyone could hear the steel beneath his voice.
