Chapter 809
Chapter 809:
The words carried a deep resolve that even Ector, who was driving, couldn’t help but glance at him through the rearview mirror. However, Clement lowered his head, making it impossible for anyone to see his expression.
Fernanda let Clement out of the car when they arrived at the studio.
“I’ll get some rest, just like you said. You don’t have to worry about me,” Clement said to Fernanda with a smile.
Fernanda nodded, and the car slowly drove away.
Clement stood and watched until the car disappeared from sight. The smile on his face instantly vanished. His mouth set in a grim line, and any trace of warmth in him disappeared, replaced by an icy coldness.
Clement had always believed that he and Fernanda would have each other’s backs for the rest of their lives.
But everything had changed.
He could accept that she was letting go of her past and falling in love like other women. He was happy that she was thriving and had found someone to love and cherish her.
What he couldn’t accept, however, was that she had a younger brother—Kevin.
Kevin and Fernanda shared a blood relation and the same last name, a bond that Clement could never have with her. He couldn’t accept that.
As they arrived at the Morgan family estate, Fernanda and Kevin stepped out of the vehicle, with Ector heading off to park the car. The afternoon air was warm, carrying the subtle, sophisticated scent of distant flora, gently swept along by a soft breeze.
Kevin caught her attention. “Hey,” he said. “Do you think I’m lying?”
Fernanda turned towards him. “Excuse me?”
Visibly tense, Kevin hissed, “You probably think I’m being unreasonable, accusing your friend of lying, don’t you?” He struggled with those words, each syllable seeming to weigh heavily on him.
Fernanda smiled faintly, her laughter light. “You’re putting words in my mouth; I’ve said nothing of the sort.”

“But even though you haven’t said it, I’m sure you think I’m just stirring up trouble!” Kevin replied, his conviction strong. “You see me as a nosy troublemaker!”
He felt incredibly frustrated, having been provoked and then misinterpreted. Cursing inwardly, he regretted coming to visit Fernanda’s studio today with Ector.
“That’s not what I think at all. I trust your words,” Fernanda reassured him with a kind gaze.
Kevin, taken aback by her understanding, paused in surprise.
“But… why didn’t you defend me earlier?” he stammered.
“Clement meant no harm; he was merely frightened,” Fernanda explained calmly. “After rescuing him from a dire situation, I helped him through his depression. He had been trapped in a deceitful scheme, suffering greatly before he managed to escape. His emotional wounds run deep, which is why I’m protective of him.”
Kevin was silent, not expecting Clement’s backstory to be so fraught with hardship.
Fernanda continued, “He’s misunderstood the nature of our relationship, thinking that having a younger brother like you would lessen my care for him. Once he realizes that’s not the case, he won’t behave like this again.”
