Chapter 820
Chapter 820:
As he looked up, he noticed Fernanda was already striding away, not bothering to bid him farewell.
All Fernanda could see were her impeccably shaped legs, reminiscent of a classical Greek sculpture, disappearing into the distance.
Fernanda arrived in Zenithium just after four o’clock. She immediately caught a taxi to the hospital, contacting Amory as she traveled. Amory was already waiting for her at the hospital entrance when she arrived.
Her immediate concern was evident. “How’s Cristian?”
“He’s still in surgery; they haven’t finished yet,” Amory replied, visibly worried.
A knot formed in Fernanda’s stomach.
She inhaled deeply, mentally preparing herself to stay composed. Amory led her to the seventh floor, stopping outside the operating theater.
“How long has the surgery been going on?” Fernanda inquired.
“Thirteen hours now,” Amory answered.
“What caused this?”
Amory glanced around cautiously before whispering, “It was a gunshot.”
Fernanda felt a surge of panic. “Was it Jett who did this?”
She suspected that Cristian’s investigation into Jett might have provoked a dangerous response.
“He wouldn’t dare.” Amory shook his head decisively.
Cristian was always meticulous about his safety, typically accompanied by several guards. This time had been no different, with five trained bodyguards at his side. Yet, the opposition they faced earlier that day was formidable. A violent confrontation had erupted, culminating in Cristian being shot.
The shock of the incident overwhelmed Fernanda as she remembered their first meeting, when a wounded Cristian had sneaked into her motel room.
Was Cristian’s life always shrouded in danger?

Her eyes hardened with cold determination, emitting a frosty, penetrating stare.
“Could his cousins be behind this?” Fernanda asked.
Cristian had mentioned that Nolan and Marc had always been hostile toward him. The injury he had when she first met him had been caused by Marc.
Amory’s voice was hushed as he responded, “We don’t have concrete proof, but it seems plausible…”
Having been close to Cristian for years, Amory was well-acquainted with the intricacies of his affairs.
“This business trip was meant to secure a deal, one that Mr. Reed wrested from the Reed Group. Their resentment could explain such drastic actions,” Amory explained.
Fernanda inhaled deeply, pondering the situation.
Cristian had repeatedly come to her aid; now, she felt compelled to reciprocate and support him in his time of need.
