Chapter 832
Chapter 832:
“Willing to let that adoration turn into contempt? Are you really willing to let him despise her the way he despises you?”
Given Curran’s resentment toward Cristian, it was very likely that Cristian’s relationship with Fernanda would also make her a target of Curran’s contempt.
And if Curran truly disapproved of their relationship, what were the odds that it would survive the storm?
“This is my concern, not yours,” Cristian said, his tone dismissive. “I chose to be with Fernanda, and I will handle everything that comes with that choice.”
He had anticipated his family’s potential objections to his relationship with Fernanda; however, their opinions mattered little to him. No one dictated the course of his life but himself.
“That’s all there is to say. You should go,” Cristian added. “If you leave now, you can still catch your flight.”
“Cristian—”
Cristian shut his eyes, signaling the conversation’s end. “I’m going to sleep.”
Jordyn bit down on her lower lip, a storm of resentment brewing inside her.
Who was he trying to fool? He had just sent Fernanda out to get him food; he had no intention of sleeping at all. He was simply trying to rid himself of her presence.
But seeing Cristian’s pallid complexion, Jordyn hesitated. She did not want to burden him with her presence while he was still injured, so she had no choice but to say, “Then I will head out first. Get some rest.”
Cristian gave a faint nod.
Jordyn had just reached the door when his voice, low and deliberate, cut through the quiet. “Oh, right.”
Jordyn turned her head.
His gaze turned frigid, sharp as a blade honed to perfection. “My relationship with Fernanda remains in the shadows until we decide otherwise. If so much as a whisper escapes from someone else’s lips before that, I will make them regret it dearly.”

At the warning, Jordyn’s heart raced, and she felt her fingers clench into her palm.
She forced a smile, her voice steady but lacking warmth. “I understand. I will inform Amory and the others.”
Cristian closed his eyes once more.
Jordyn let out a bitter laugh. It had been a long time since he had warned her like this. He did not need to raise his voice to command fear. There was something far more unsettling in the way he spoke—an unspoken authority that could not be ignored.
There was something more terrifying about the quiet authority in his tone, the kind that left no room for defiance.
As she stepped out of the hospital room, her eyes fell on Fernanda, who sat in a chair, a paper bag cradled in her hands.
Noticing her, Fernanda flashed a bright smile. “Miss Becker, done catching up?”
Jordyn held her gaze, then spoke evenly. “I appreciate you looking after him all this time. Please continue to take good care of him.”
