Chapter 835
Chapter 835:
Fernanda never felt the need to measure herself against others. Her self-assurance was rooted in her own merits, and she was secure in the knowledge that Cristian’s affections were firmly with her. The world was full of people beyond her control. Her focus was on managing her own reactions, not others’.
Cristian had rehearsed numerous explanations to clarify things to Fernanda, but now, he realized they were unnecessary.
There was no need for Fernanda to have any doubts. She possessed such deep wisdom and keen insight that Cristian didn’t need to clarify anything.
A sense of relief washed over him, lifting the weight from his chest. Cristian felt a surge of happiness.
Discussing Jordyn in detail had always been a sensitive issue for him. He had worried that mishandling the conversation might reset his relationship with Fernanda to the beginning. His fear that Fernanda might doubt him and misinterpret his intentions had loomed large.
Yet, at this moment, he realized that all his concerns had been unfounded. He even began to suspect that Fernanda’s love for him was deeper than he had ever realized. Her trust in him was grounded in love.
Upon this realization, Cristian felt an urge to caress her head, but he was hindered by the medical tubes that restricted his movements. He glanced at the bandages covering his body, a wave of irritation passing over him.
Without warning, Fernanda reached over and gently smoothed his disheveled hair, soothing him as one might calm a restless puppy.
She noticed that the usually distant and reserved Cristian had become much more compliant in his injured state, shedding his usual cold demeanor to reveal a vulnerability reminiscent of his teenage years.
Typically, Cristian displayed a gentle and mild demeanor toward her, but his interactions with others often carried a tone of arrogance and coldness. His assertiveness sometimes startled Fernanda.
Now, she found herself drawn to his current state of approachability and simplicity. Yet, she recognized that this change was the result of his grave injuries.
While Fernanda was lost in thought, a knock at the door interrupted her. Turning, she saw Amory enter the room.

Amory looked concerned as he quickly informed them, “Mr. Reed, Haley will be here shortly to see you!”
Cristian’s expression soured, and he shut his eyes, instructing, “Handle it, Amory. Tell her to go back.” Amory nodded in acknowledgment.
Fernanda suggested, “Since she’s already here, perhaps letting her visit would ease her worries.”
Amory’s pulse quickened at her words. He wondered if Fernanda was aware of the subtle dynamics between Haley and Cristian, concerned that her suggestion might upset him. Just as Amory was about to caution Fernanda, Cristian, influenced by her perspective, reversed his decision.
“I’ll take your advice, Fernanda. Let her come.”
Amory was stunned by Cristian’s unusual compliance with Fernanda. When had Mr. Reed ever heeded someone so personally?
