She had finally found the person she had been searching for. It turned out he had been by her side all along, protecting her.

It was truly amazing.

“Haley told me that Jordyn was the one who told her you were injured. Will Jordyn tell Curran about our relationship?” Fernanda asked.

“I don’t know. Are you scared?” Cristian inquired.

Fernanda laughed and replied, “I’m not scared of anything as long as I’m with you. I prepared myself for the worst the day I got together with you.” Nothing could stop her from following her heart.

She had always been fearless when facing challenges.

Cristian was discharged a week later from the hospital. Although his wounds hadn’t fully healed, they posed no serious threat to his health, so there was no need for him to stay. Fernanda and Cristian both decided to head back to Esaham.

Before leaving, Fernanda asked Cristian if he would like to meet the thugs who had injured him.

Cristian refused, saying, “That won’t be necessary. The law will take care of them. They’re just a bunch of small fries anyway.”

“Those small fries hurt you,” Fernanda said with a smile.

Cristian said nothing for a while. Finally, he sighed. “What I did threatened their livelihood, which is why they were so desperate to make me pay.”

Just as they were about to leave Zenithium, they received news that Jett wanted to see Cristian.

Cristian initially refused the invitation, as he had no interest in seeing Jett, but Fernanda convinced him otherwise. She was curious about what Jett had to say.

Cristian, unable to say no to Fernanda, finally gave in.

At the detention center, Jett no longer looked like his old self. He looked unkempt and had aged considerably during his time there. His eyes were glassy. However, a wide look of hate twisted his face the moment he saw Cristian and Fernanda.

“I knew you were behind this! I couldn’t have been investigated without something triggering it,” Jett said through gritted teeth.

He had been doing well for himself in Zenithium when, all of a sudden, someone had ignited an investigation against him. Cristian and Fernanda offered him no response.

Frustrated, Jett slammed his hand onto the table. “Why did you do this? I never did you any wrong. I never offended you.”

“I just stand up against wrongdoing. How many terrible acts have you carried out here in Zenithium? Justice delayed is never justice denied. Your reign of evil has come to an end,” Fernanda said.

Jett scoffed at Fernanda. “Come on, don’t act like you’re a saint. I know you’re doing this for Bonita. You hate that my son keeps harassing her, so you want to bring down our family along with him. All that you’re doing is for your selfish interest. You’re a hypocrite. You’re not fooling me with your excuses.”

Cristian’s glare turned almost reptilian as it bore into Jett. Unable to withstand the intensity of the gaze, Jett looked away.
